It’s nice to think about finding Discord alternatives, but realistically, is anyone going to move?
No one platform has all the features that Discord users have come to expect in a neat package (and Matrix calls ≠ Discord VCs, they’re closer to Discord DM calls).
If an alternative is centralized and gains enough traction, it will be targeted by governments and forced to implement age verification (which is why we’re moving to begin with).
Realistically, I think the mass of people will hand over their IDs or deal with being a “teen by default,” because the alternative is losing all the friends they’ve made and communities they’ve joined so far.
