From Dublin, Ireland Living in Málaga, Spain I joined the Fediverse originally because I was curious about the # openstreetmap instance, then found lots of interesting things about my other interests such as # photography , # hiking , and travelling by # train . All these interests are also reflected in my photos on Flickr and Pixelfed. I had a personal website/blog way back in the 00s, and will definitely certainly 100% get around to reviving it some day soon. Soonish.

Renfe's new tool for visualising the real-time position of long and medium distance trains is grimly fascinating.
It's 10.30 a.m. and in the area of this map covering Algeciras, Málaga, Granada, and Almería - an area with well over 3 million inhabitants - only 5 trains are in motion (and only 1 of those is on time).
The tool doesn't display substitute bus services - there are probably a few on the road north of Málaga, which is still cut off from the high speed network.
