did you know that in the Settings app, there's a loading animation on the Windows Update page? it's right there at the top of the page, a slim animated progress bar

did you know that this loading animation isn't for the UI (which is actually just set to 0 opacity, meaning you can still select text and click on buttons), but for Windows Update itself, the update checker?

...but then other pages have a circular loading throbber for when it needs to show a loading animation without hiding the UI? 🤨 So why the fuck hide the UI then, why didn't they bother to put the circle animation on the Windows Update page as well?

just another one of those questions we'll never get an answer for. it's such a bad and inconsistent operating system JFC

@clonedhuman some of them are popular. piaille.fr has 7.8K users, glasgow.social, mastoturk.org, drumstodon.net, if I remember right there were a few even from mastodon.social (but I could be wrong) I wouldn't directly block the instances, but it would be nice if we could automate blocking specific accounts (e.g. through that FIRES thing), or submit an advisory/recommendation to recommend blocking a specific list of accounts.

@Mara just wait until you've successfully changed your account password, but then you can only log in with the old password. That's currently happening with Ubisoft accounts, they're redesigning the account page, so I changed my password (only possible via the new beta UI) multiple times, but I keep having to log in with the old password. Thank fuck I have 2FA, because this is horrible. And yes, they have abysmal password requirements, it must be between 8 and 16 characters, requires at least a number and a symbol.

@zilti I've taken some time to check through the latest replies on the Framework forum thread on this whole situation, and it seems like things have improved regarding moderation, it seems that both Vaxry, who's still young, and the rest of the team(?), have improved their moderation rules, code of conduct, and anti-trans or hateful statements have decreased somewhat, which is nice to see, with some of the recent donors to Hyprland being trans advocates or trans themselves. With that said, Vaxry still has a history of being unpleasant to people. Here's one example where he called a blind person the r-word slur and then saying that it's a joke, it's not serious: https://mastodon.social/@acidiclight/115348200226656321 I get it, plenty of 2010s-minded people that may have used 4chan use that word, but it's a slur, and then reasoning that it's meant to be a joke isn't an apology. That still leaves Omarchy as one of the biggest issues, because unlike Vaxry, DHH is very much a white supremacist that wants to return UK to being "white".

Congrats, your bar is now a Nazi bar
