Another glorious UI choice: two buttons with a similar icon next to each other that do very different things. I always click the URL to edit it, and then the big X button to delete it and instead I close the panel. Because to delete the field you need to click the X button, not the X button next to it. Brilliant.

Are there any solid articles on good use cases for #swift actors? Given how they work, reentrancy, impossibility of sync blocking calls to async functions, etc, I’ve been having a real hard time trying to find a good use case, especially in a pre-existing code base. The f…riendly swift concurrency article hints at actors being services that process data. What about mutable data objects? Shouldn’t they be actors as well?

Great article. The only thing I don’t agree with is the reason for not leaving Apple. It’s not about the ecosystem. It’s everything else sucking worse, much worse.

When I posted this a few days ago (@arroz@mastodon.social) that MBP was running Windows. I couldn’t even setup manual IP network configuration due to a well documented bogus error. Switched to Linux. Setting up something as simple as HiDPI is a bloody nightmare.

There are no alternatives, plain and simple.

Unpopular opinion, apparently: companies like cloudflare and Amazon provide very high quality services people and enterprises actually need, with a level of uptime and security vastly superior to what most of their customers would achieve on their own or using traditional providers. Their downtimes being so visible is a consequence of their success.
