The sale officially "closed" today so we took over the bed and frame plus some other things to our new home and collected the keys. Unboxed and set up the platform, unboxed the bed onto it. Checked some things. Gas stove only has one igniter working, seems less than serviceable to get into it and figure out why the others have failed. Water heater doesn't seem to be able to ignite the pilot light. None of the fairly newish doors have a deadbolt, something I hadn't noticed. Good thing there's hardware stores open and I have a keyhole saw set. Gonna take some more stuff over and buy a couple deadbolts on the way to install.
The swamp cooler on the roof is toast. It still powers on, but when I went up to look at why the sides were all off it, I found it was because they had all rusted out. Rigged them up as best I could to block out as much rain as possible the next few days, will prob wrap a tarp around it soon.
The place is definitely rough but it's not so bad we regret it. I can address all the issues so, at some point it'll be more than a decent investment. And it *is* plenty livable, right now, and so much more space, which is so welcome after 8 years in a glorified refrigerator box.
