I just watched a wonderful documentary about the life of a group of senior musicians living in the retirement home for artists in Milan, Italy, created by famous opera composer Giuseppe Verdi. https://www.jolt.film/watch/vivaverdi?utm_medium=paid&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=viva_verdi_award_voters_gs&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=23508119916&gbraid=0AAAAA9UUJykNUJcS862HRss0MFoYyjnuE&gclid=Cj0KCQiAqeDMBhDcARIsAJEbU9Qxw6cJKIr6KFETK68YNsaAy0JkJZ7dTeE9aC7M06Y0QSTnmuwrAu8aAsJDEALw_wcB

@inguin@nerdculture.de I am pulled by nostalgia, but then realize that I can play many of those games on Steam or GOG with my current laptop.

Why are we attracted to #retrogaming and #RetroComputing? Is it nostalgia? Is it the idea of disconnected devices? Is it the quality of old-school games?

A request for the already great @ivory@tapbots.social. #mastodon is filled with great content and I’d love a way to easily bookmark posts and add them to bookmark’s lists. I would have a list for retrogaming, one for illustration, one for comics, etc.

Today I was thinking about the U.S. Constitution, how its interpretation affects our life and rights, and how courts spend so much time trying to understand what a bunch of guys wrote more than 300 years ago! That sounds like a religion or cult. Why should I live my life based on what someone said hundreds or thousands of years ago? It’s nonsense. The constitution should expire every 10 years and our life and rights should be shaped by new rules that capture our current society’s values.

@crazyeddie@mastodon.social @mer@mastodon.ie @hacks4pancakes@infosec.exchange It’s anedoctal but many democrats I know did not vote in 2024 and many moderate republicans I know voted for Trump because they were all alienated by extreme positions such as the one I criticized at the beginning of this thread. I’m not blaming Trump on the specific user I criticized, it’s more of an observation on how a party that moves too much to one side may trigger, as a a response, a move to the completely opposite side. It’s a rubber band effect.

My whole argument is just to say that the extreme position of saying “if you own a Tesla and use Twitter you’re a fascist, a nazi, you support the current administration” is the BS that made Trump President in 2024. Unfortunately.

@crazyeddie@mastodon.social @mer@mastodon.ie @hacks4pancakes@infosec.exchange unfortunately at the end of the day there is nothing like Twitter if you want to keep up with some communities, the news, etc. The two alternatives to Twitter are Threads and Mastodon. Threads has the same moral issues of Twitter (maybe a little bit less), so if no Twitter, then no Threads. Mastodon is just not there yet as size of the community, breadth of topics, and the way it can highlight interesting or urgent topics (because of no algo).

@gedeonm@mastodon.social are these official or fake? I ordered from ate my a few “Lego” sets (replicas of the originals), but the bricks were a nightmare to put together. I killed by thumbs by pressing them.

@gedeonm@mastodon.social let me know how that works. I bought some Lego replica off Temu some time ago and it was just a pain to make those bricks stick with each other. I killed my thumbs, pressing on them.
