Hey Owlbear's Friends! It's Trixie! Owlbear said they still weren't up to game recommendations or whatever, and I was like "Oooo! Gimmie your phone! I'll tell them some stuff" and they were like "Trixie, have you been eating the coffee again?" and I was like "No! I saw a thing with RPGs raising money for trans people in Idaho!" and Owlbear was all "Well yeah, tell them all about that, you're the BEST FRIEND I ever had, and you're awesome, so eat ALL THE COOKIES IN THR PANTRY!!!" So I did that, and now I'll telling you about the other thing!
So it's on itch, and it's over *five hundred* RPG thingies! There's solo games, journaling stuff, and SO MUCH COOLNESS! And you can have it all for only five dollars, but you should pay more, like LOTS more if you can because it helps trans people and other folks in Idaho, which is somewhere in the US or wherever, that's boring human stuff.

The downside of leaving systemd isn't losing Gnome (although I will miss it); it's losing Dank Linux, Gnome, and Noctalia at the same time. Alpine doesn't have quickshell in its repositories.
Compiling it on my laptop is... possible? Maybe? But then it's a core component of the desktop that has to be manually updated. and that's a pain in the tail feathers I'm not sure I want to deal with.
I'll probably do Alpine and just build a complete desktop on my own, then. But what to use as a window manager? Niri is nice. Wayfire looks cool.
It's quite the two pipe problem.

So far, I don't think any OS I've ever run on my laptop has been as responsive as #AlpineLinux. Even running #Gnome, the heaviest of DEs with a buncha #systemd that has to be worked around in a #BusyBox - #OpenRC environment, it was super fast to boot and just quick to use.
I have to imagine that now that I'm moving away from Gnome, it would be even more zippy.
So I'm leaning in that direction.

I keep thinking about trying something different with my laptop, like Chimera OS, or building my own desktop setup on Alpine, or Adélie - or maybe even a BSD (although last time I tried FreeBSD it was a disaster on my lappy). I wanna go systemd free for sure.
Trixie says I need to stop installing OSes and setting up desktops, and just have fun with my computer and, like... I *am* having fun...

So it's once again time for the Owlbear to get some rest. Trixie made three Cadbury Creme Egg omelettes for dinner tonight. So naturally she ate both and I got take out. She's up in her lair laying back on her hord, reading One Pound Gospel by Rumiko Takahashi and complaining about how I never eat her cooking.
Instead of a game recommendation, I've got something game adjacent for all my #LinuxGaming friends: Jackify.
Over on Windows there's this modlist manager called #Wabbajack. It was (so, so obviously) originally made for #Skyrim, but has since expanded substantially. It offers streamlined install of *massive* mod lists, including managing load order and everything.
Jackify is an appimage that let's you use Wabbajack on Linux… sorta. Rather, it uses Wabbajack for you. Whatever, it makes huge modlists like Begin Again: Tale of Two Wastelands easy to install. Give it a look!

There was a woman named Mary Sweeny who, in the 1890s through the early 1900s, went around Wisconsin doing coke and smashing windows. Lots and lots of windows. So many, in fact, that she became known as the Wisconsin Window Smasher in the press.
Feel free to look her up; there's more to her story (of course). The Owlbear might write poetry and short fiction, but this is all verifiable and attested in newspapers of the day.

Okay, the Owlbear is pretty tired rn. Had a super busy day; a necromancer set up shop near a long forgotten graveyard, and as a Champion of Pharasma, I had to deal with it. I was by myself because Trixie was off visiting her - and I'm quoting here - "Secret attic found family" and I gotta be honest, I was terrified to ask for more information. The zombies were less scary.
So since Slay the Spire II hit early access today, I thought I'd recommend Slay The Spire, the only rogue-lite deckbuilder I ever really play. You play one of four characters with a minimal deck, battling your way up a spire.
It's great fun, even if I'm not very good at it. The music gets a bit repetitive, but you can always play your own or listen to a podcast. It's got fun strategic battles, and cool art with a slightly creepy atmosphere, and I am here for it.

So I'm watching the pilot episode of a show (which shall remain namless, I ain't here to be mean) and holy crap the acting is *bad*. Like, *really bad*.
Except for the child actors. Which - non offense - are usually the weak point. Oh, and one guy is okay. Not great, but okay.

Finally got around to watching #Kpop_Demon_Hunters and god damn it #Netflix, between this and #Nimona... The Owlbear really needs you to stop making animated films that make them cry.

Hey, fam, the Owlbear is too tired to do flash fiction tonight. So for my game recommendation I've got Foregone.
Foregone is an action rogue-lite platformer with a lot of similarities to Dead Cells. It's gorgeously animated, and while not as good as Evil Hat's masterpiece, it's pretty damn awesome. and a lot of fun. I give it three paws up.
And now I'm gonna go sleep. Take care of each other. Be kind, spread love, play indie games. And don't forget to take a nap every now and then.
