It’s not consistent, but me and some others I‘ve seen use “tech” as Content Warning (pseudo-) “tag”. Maybe that helps somewhat to put behind expandable post filter?

Das Dateisystem ist dann normalerweise auch ein komprimiertes und signiertes Nur-Lese-Dateisystem mit einem kleinen schreibbaren Bereich, damit fällt dann auch einnisten über Konfigurationsdateien normalerweise weg.
Nicht wirklich für Desktop-Nutzung gedacht, eher so Geld-Automat, PoS, Interaktive Displays oder auch vorgebaute Server-Abbilder.

For not so techy ones I’ve seen a story or two in recent months of users believing that all Mastodon instances are run by the Mastodon company with the domains being some kind of gimmick – somewhat understandable when you’re used to corpo media platforms and particularily also to BlueSky, where that’s actually pretty acurate. (At least that’s were we suspected it might come from in the comments.)
So they’ll probably know the full handle, but not necessarily be aware of what it means.

Untrue, Box::leak() is a safe stdlib method in Rust to get a reference that is never freed / lasts “forever”.
The important features offseting Rust from C are: No unexpected pointer aliasing (shared XOR mutable rule), lifetime management (no use-after or double free), prevention of data races (the “fearless concurrency” shtic) and, yes, no buffer overflows.
Data races and buffer overflows are apparently the most common problems in C code. Yes, you can avoid them. Yes, you can use static and dynamic analysis tools to find them. The Rust sales pitch is just: For 95%+ of your code (the safepart) you no longer need to worry about these problems, hence freeing mental load for higher-level architectorial concerns.

There is only one way in which any of that could be any amount of cool.

A strong case can be made though that the patch tool garbage erasure must only apply to initial “garbage”, rather than initial and inter-chunk garbage. That’s the aspect that causes the surprise here: VCS diffs only ever place commit metadata (including the message) before the actual patch, but the patch tool allows this metadata (“garbage”) anywhere. At least for git apply that is an obvious bug in and of itself.
Secondly, given this git show should have exported the commit message with one leading space on every line, as that is the escaping mechanism specified by patch for “garbage” data.
Doing both of the above changes would make for a robust mitigation on all levels.

Don't have a write-up or link unfortunately, but I once (long ago) followed a guide to create a VMDK (or whatever VMWare's disk format is called) referencing a physical disk partition, so I could run the same Windows 7 directly or as VM inside VirtualBox on Linux. It complained about licensing due to the “hardware” changing. Converting that disk image file to VirtualBox's native format resulted in a VM only copy.
But searching for something like “VBoxManage create disk image from physical partition” / “VirtualBox disk image for physical partition reference” should find you something helpful for VirtualBox.
