@ScottishGreens Weird headline premise, isn't it? The Greens and SNP are both liberal centre-left parties, while Labour is way over on the authoritarian right these days... why would anybody who supports the Greens be choosing between voting for them and Labour, instead of between Greens and SNP?

(I'm in London, so maybe I'm missing something here.)

@christineburns Don't know if you already know of it, but this site (built by @katemorley) is a really nice presentation of the live generation (and import/export) data from the national grid:

@KathyReid I feel like Facebook is a good marker for 'oops, too late', but I'm not as confident of what the early warning sign might have been.

I usually like to follow Bill Hicks in blaming most of society's ills on 'marketing'... or more specifically, in the context of the Internet, advertising-driven surveillance capitalism. So maybe when Google Ads launched?

Somewhere between 50,000 and 500,000 people are marching in #London today in a demonstration against the far-right.

@chris_bloke I can see how grumpy old men might be a valuable source of thinking on simple time-saving techniques and tricks.

@dave As I understand it, Rust is probably the skill to acquire then, because it's memory-safe and hence becoming increasingly popular. Although I think it's mostly being used at the kernel driver level in Linux currently rather than app level, but I guess take a look and see what you find that looks interesting to you 🙂
