I got a cuddly toy as a promotional item and I think it's really pleasant to the touch.
However, I also realize that the opinion of a person who thinks that double bass strings are usually pleasant to the touch is likely... quite far from any mainstream opinions about those matters.

Past week left me so exhausted that I can't even say there's "brain fog": there's no brain anywhere, only fog.

Recently my friend and I were discussing the possibility of a series about philosophical zombies, which is complicated by the fact that they are indistinguishable from humans and none of the usual tropes of zombie movies are applicable.

A possible premise for the pilot episode of the series about philosophical zombies: the scientist who studies human color perception in a black-and-white room is afraid to get out of that room because if none of her experiences outside that room feel like qualia she may be a zombie and she finds that possibility terrifying.

Random thought: I find it curious how "oublier" is a normal word in French but its cognates that made it into English ("obliviate" and "oblivion") have very specific and heavy connotations.

https://www.newscientist.com/article/2517139-frailty-can-be-eased-with-an-infusion-of-stem-cells-from-young-people/

Good, younger generations are already running out of the ways to afford food and rent, so the opportunity to sell stem cells to boomers is very welcome. ;)

I'm hearing about a lot of companies mandating LLM and people becoming reliant on LLMs and losing their knowledge.
However, I'm not hearing about companies changing their job interview processes to make allowances for people who lost their knowledge to LLMs.
Which means a person who became reliant on them will find it more difficult to find another job, since they need to regain that knowledge to pass a coding interview.
I'm pretty sure managers of companies with LLM usage mandates are happy about that even if it's not a part of their plan.

I was checking in for a flight (once-a-year work thing, I'd happily not take any flights at all for obvious reasons) and found that my birth year was changed in RyanAir's account settings.
I clicked on the saved passport and I feel very lucky its data is actually displayed and it caught my eye.
It was not the data I saved and used previous times — everything was right except the birth year was five years off.
I have no idea what would happen if I didn't notice and correct it. I'm sure I could be easily denied boarding or even accused of trying to use a fake passport.

That's the fucking age of #vibecoding for you...

Did you know: despite its apparent massive scale, the Internet is located inside a two-story brick building near Limerick Colbert train station.

If anyone wants some schadenfreude material…
I wrote a contrafact of “My funny Valentine”.
I wanted to make a Valentine’s Day present for a friend and I thought she might find a contrafact of that tune funny.
So I made a handwritten copy and went to the bar where she always works on weekends.
But that time she was not working so I walked out with the handwritten copy still in my jacket's pocket.
I went to a jam session where someone dropped my jacket while I was on stage, and I didn’t notice that the sheet fell out. I only realized it when I was back home.
So not only I missed the window to make a Valentine’s day gift — I lost the gift.
Well, measure spacing was not all that good anyway. I need to practice my music handwriting.

But I missed the window now. I think I’ll just send her a digital copy and a recording.
