Good Morning Folks. Happy #MixtapeMondays, and today I present you with another mix brought on by contemplating my non-existence thanks to cancer. It almost feels like I am dealing with the stages of grief in musical form, and this one is quite a bit more moody and brooding than my normal fare. The anchor song this time was Sultans of Swing. https://aggronaut.com/2026/03/16/mixtape-mondays-mired-moody-mindset/ #Music #AmListening #Mixtape

Ended Thursday and welcomed Friday after a walk with Vince Guaraldi, Bola Sete and Friends (stylized as Vince Guaraldi \ Bola Sete \ and Friends) is a collaboration between pianist Vince Guaraldi and guitarist Bola Sete released in January 1964 by Fantasy Records. It was Guaraldi's fourth studio album and the first of three studio collaborations with Sete. Guaraldi historian and author Derrick Bang offered equal praise, stating that Guaraldi and Sete represented "the perfect musical marriage," adding that Vince Guaraldi, Bola Sete and Friends is "most consistent" of their three album collaborations. Cashbox cited the album as a Jazz Pick: "Here's a delightful musical marriage spotlighting the distinctive musical talents of Bola Sete and Vince Guaraldi ... The two jazzmen compliment each other as they turn in superlative renditions of 'Days of Wine and Roses,' 'Star Song' and 'Moon Rays.' - Wikipedia https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FeB1kht5u5Q&list=PL9reB0DlKm6tDCmv_mGwQKIKVjCpwMXF0&index=1 #VinceGuaraldi #BolaSete #Music #Jazz #JazzPiano

Today is the 10-year anniversary of keyboardist Keith Emerson's death. I consider myself lucky to have seen ELP at Selland Arena in Fresno when they were touring Brain Salad Surgery. While many protégée kids can knock out Vivaldi at 8YO, Emerson could slay on his Hammond organ with his left hand and simultaneously blow the entire world's musical minds on his Moog synthesizer with his right hand. His skills were SUPERHUMAN! His gravesite in Lancing, West Sussex, England. #music #ELP

Spring Fever by The Jazz Brothers feat. Chuck Mangione, Gap Mangione, Sal Nistico released on Riverside in 1961. From The Liner Notes: "The mode of expression for The Jazz Brothers is a modern, hard-swinging one, tempered by softer (but no less swinging) performances. The former vein is exemplified by Chuck Mangiones Brooks Brothers (a punning reference to an up-state New York disc jockey) and Spring Fever, and by Frank Pullaras Not Too Serious. The quietest moments are found on the celebrated standard ballad, What's New?, which contains a long, expressive Nestico solo, sandwiched by some sensitive muted work by Chuck..." https://www.mangionemagic.com/spring-fever.html https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTJjLDuiyUM&list=RDjTJjLDuiyUM&start_radio=1 #JazzBrothers #ChuckMangione #GapMangione #RiversideRecords #Jazz #HardBop #Music #SalNistico

Jazz Showcase by The Mastersounds released on World Pacific in 1957. Jazz Profiles wrote on their blog: "At World Pacific, The Mastersounds first LP – Jazz Showcase … Introducing the Mastersounds [PJM-403] incorporated many tunes and arrangements that had become staples of their repertoire during the group’s tenure at the club including a spirited [an oft-requested] version of Bud Powell’s Un Poco Loco, Wes’ Tune by Wes Montgomery, and Dexter’s Deck by tenor saxophonist Dexter Gordon. This debut album also offers intriguing Buddy Montgomery arrangements on such standards as Lover, If I Should Lose You, That Old Devil Moon and Spring is Here." https://jazzprofiles.blogspot.com/2020/07/remembering-mastersounds.html https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aw4Wes2M2mk #TheMastersounds #Jazz #WorldPacific #Vibraphone #BuddyMontgomery #Music #MonkMontgomery

Graliśmy gdzie nas tylko zaproszono - w domach kultury w małych miejscowościach, skłotach i klubach wielkich miast, wszędzie niosąc niesfornego ducha punkowej wolności i przekory. W sobotę 14.03 świętujemy urodziny Gaszkesa! Będzie ogień i doszły nas słuchy, że gromko zapowiedział się też sam szatan - pierwszy anarchista świata ;) #punk #punkrock #concert #torun #music

Insight is an album by saxophonist/flautist Prince Lasha that was recorded in England in 1966 and originally released on the CBS label. Allmusic awarded the album 4 stars, with its review by Thom Jurek stating: "this is not an exploratory outside date, but a straight-ahead session of originals and standards, divided between uptempo numbers and ballads. ...For all its traditionalism, this is indeed a major date for Lasha and reveals how deeply ensconced he was in the bop and swing lineages." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PAGF6Cxnhjw&list=RDPAGF6Cxnhjw&start_radio=1 #PrinceLasha #DavidSnell #Harp #Jazz #Music #StanTracey

Abuela's Song of the Day (Mar 9) NEWBEAT - Look So Good https://youtu.be/KHG3M3UqHBc cw: lens flares First comeback for these 5th gen boys. Always such a shame when these new groups struggle to afford proper clothes. 😅 Most of these boys were backup dancers for A.C.E while their maknae is still in high school???? Lort have mercy.... Oh right, the song. Well, the song is pretty typical fluff dance pop but really, you're probably going to be distracted by the dancing anyway. #Music #Kpop #NEWBEAT

The Watersons by The Watersons, released on Topic in 1966. Sleeve Notes The Watersons sing songs from all over the country but pay special attention to those collected in their native East Yorkshire. They live in Hull, the great seaport beside the Humber that also produced one of our greatest poets, Andrew Marvell; and in Hull they have for some years run their famous club, Folk Union One. https://mainlynorfolk.info/watersons/records/thewatersons.html https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66qUOmGbvIQ #TheWatersons #NormaWaterson #MikeWaterson #LalWaterson #FolkMusic #Hull #Music #TraditionalSongs #TopicRecords

Blow-Up is a soundtrack album by American jazz pianist Herbie Hancock, featuring music composed for Michelangelo Antonioni's 1966 film Blowup. MGM Records released the album in the United States on 20 February 1967, and in the United Kingdom on 10 May. The album features performances by Hancock, trumpeters Freddie Hubbard and Joe Newman, alto saxophonist Phil Woods, tenor saxophonist Joe Henderson, guitarist Jim Hall, bassist Ron Carter and drummer Jack DeJohnette. Although Jimmy Smith is credited with playing organ on the album, some sources claim it was actually Paul Griffin who was at the sessions - Wikipedia I re-watched the film last year after reading the short story that inspired it by Julio Cortázar https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7LA8U703G_s&list=PLkAUJkbhd-RjzIXr_NXGzvpOcqLH1pxEi&index=1 #BlowUp #Soundtrack #HerbieHancock #Jazz #MichelangeloAntonioni #SwingingLondon #Music #JulioCortazar
