For really great mashed potatoes: don’t boil them, bake them*. It’ll concentrate the potato-ness.
It’s extra work, but you also get bonus crispy skins you can blitz and add them back in for extra depth.
* brine them for an hour or so in a very salty solution, then pat dry before baking.

@morrick@appdot.net @flargh@mastodon.social Most of my old CDs have some form of rot/abuse. Turns out putting all those CDs into Case Logic sleeves was a terrible idea. Never purchased a pre-recorded minidisc tho. I have about 20-30 blanks though. I’d make copies of CDs via toslink.

@flargh@mastodon.social I kinda do it all. I’m not however a ‘collector’ per se (not a completionist, etc). I stream, I have all sorts of physical media. Now with streaming it’s ‘will I listen to this more than a couple times before putting it back on the shelf?’ or ‘Is this not available streaming?’ before I buy it.
But it accumulates quickly.

The warm weather the other week got me back into tennis mode. This past week was cold though.
Got the chance to grab the new Nike Vapor 12s late last year, but haven't been able to break them in for reasons.
frankly, I should wear them to walk with Bill (he requires intense aid, so I hold onto both his forearms, and I walk backwards — and in heels!). When he stops balancing, I put a huge amount of force on the ball of my left foot to keep him up. Tennis shoes are good at lateral stability.

2 things: it never is, and as @lapcatsoftware@mastodon.social points out, Snow Leopard wasn’t what you remember at first. It took over a year for it to get good.

You’re quite correct, ‘and yet we live in a society’. And it’s impossible to be ‘pure’ (wtf is that anyway). But there are simple small choices we can make which can align better with what we say we want… otherwise, the one’s complaining amounts to less than nothing.
The choice/alternative to which I referred was to buy used/3rd party refurb.

I can say this was the best episode, but that’s also like being the tallest midget.

@CStamp@mastodon.social Yep. macOS started getting a lot of Windows-isms around the ‘Get a Mac’ years… I think that was a mistake. Apple wound up catering to them (switchers) over their core userbase.

But companies hate it because they no longer have a relationship with the buyer. It also will have overall detrimental effects on the overall market as the owners of the robots will determine winners and losers.
They’re not your robots.
