Nearly half of the Lower 48 is in drought this week, with 48.58% in moderate drought or worse. The last time this much of the U.S. was in drought was the week of Nov. 12, 2024.

Hawaii is the only state to see improvements to drought or dryness this week. The windward slopes of the Big Island, Maui and Molokai received 4 to 10 inches or more of rain, with snow in higher elevations. Some localized areas reported almost 15 inches of rain, in addition to landslides and flooding.
