@farah How new are we talking? I recall seeing it 10+ years ago in a discussion lamenting the loss of competence porn as a TV/movie metagenre in favour of hapless protagonists and an overall growing distrust in scientists and scholars. From some of the other replies here, it seems like it's coming back as a thing in media, I'm glad :D

Also, for the target audience, the original films may as well not exist. They're older than they are! They were for their parents, not for them. Something new feels like it was made for them specifically, even if it's nigh identical to the original.
Less cynically, a new film coming out means they get to experience it at about the same time, which gives it more cultural relevance than something they may have all seen but at different times in different contexts.

@junklight Yeah, this sounds about right. If the original actors don't want anything to do with JKR/HP, then they're not going to participate in marketing/merching/etc. Remaking it with more amenable actors gives them a chance to do more merch, licencing deals, events, etc.
It's hardly ever about the merit of the film with this shit, the film is just a trailer for all the other crud (though there being a new film also means award eligibility, etc, which is additional marketing for the mech).

@Krita I can't figure out how to use text style presets 🙃 Clicking a preset doesn't change the current text, and doesn't affect any newly created texts, so I have no idea what I'm meant to do. I can't find a way to edit the preset either. I've only really used brush presets so far though, could be missing the obvious.
After adding a tag to my preset and filtering by that tag, it shows up as... whatever this is. An empty entry with with an empty tooltip? Shows up correctly under "All" though.

@Krita I finally had a chance to play with it and it's much improved and my funky dlig-abusing fonts work \o/, but I ran into a lot of annoyances with the Text Properties panel. For example:
- Do I really have to type out the entire font name every time I want to change the font?
- Scrolling through risks changing properties because values change if you hover over them while scrolling, without requiring focus...
Also, bug: when changing the text align, the selection isn't updated.
