Waaaait a friggin second. This is also a blatant reason to learn nixos stuff it would be exactly perfect for a basic k3s node. I’m certain there’s a module (I think that’s the language).

Now there’s a permission issues managing writing the files. I know I’m not cognitively at peak right now but this is not what I want to spend my time on.

My instinct was then to write a small python program. Which I recall was exactly what I did as a I want to learn more python, in 2018. Unfortunately I lost that code somewhere.

Going to see what exists and what the libvirt api looks like.

Or go if there’s a better library option or something.

I don’t miss drinking but I do terribly miss meeting friends at the bar and just having fun.

I really just miss my friends. I get to see most of them 1-2 times a year.

What’s funny is I’m still getting about 2-3 hours every few days to do hands on keyboard stuff for my lab setup.

I’m still not sure how that’s happening but at least I don’t have to go multiple hours a day worth of meetings.

Man.. so just rewrote all the terraform into modules and to make it more specific for creating a libvirt pool > base image (backed by cloud image) > volume backed by the base image.

Ran into a provider bug that doesn’t propagate (or allow you to set) the image which is backed by the base image, so it defaults to `raw` (which also feels like strange behavior).

Someone already submitted a PR so I’ll test it later.

Not looking forward to then dealing with cloud-init, but it should be very simple

About to just swap to k3s at this point.

Two libvirt dom interfaces with the same xml on two different domains connected to the same bridge net, both macvtap. Boot a Debian 13 live iso and dhcp is mint.

Boot the talos metal iso and dhcp picks up everything but the gateway.

Change it to a nat network, dhcp behaves fine.

I really don’t want to spend anymore time on this. It seems so silly.

How do you handle auth in your #homelab / #selfHosted

Assuming you have multiple services that may or may not be shared w others. Are you just using wherever email/password support the application has? Running another service to manage auth?
