Three of my mini-PC power supplies have died over the last 2–3 months. That’s half my #K8S cluster unavailable right now. 😓 All three nodes are old Optiplex 3010s, and their #QuickSync support isn’t great anyway. Right now #Plex / #Jellyfin is pinned to a single node with the “newest” CPU for transcoding. Debating whether to replace the PSUs or just upgrade the dead nodes to newer mini-PCs. #homelab #kubernetes #k8s

Man baut ein Homelab. Alles läuft stabil. Und plötzlich ist die wichtigste VM einfach weg. Kein Crash. Kein Fehler. Nur der Linux OOM-Killer, der beschlossen hat, dass ausgerechnet diese VM gehen darf. I've been working on custom #MCP tools to better tie my stuff together. It's connected to the Assist functionality in #HomeAssistant allowing me to do things like: - add items to grocery/personal/household to-do lists. - check or update quantities of items in my #HomeBox inventory - ask for weather forecasts for anywhere #selfhost #homelab #llm #ai

Moving cachyos from my z13 flow 64gb to my brand new shiny 9850x3d+5080 was not simple, but was pretty easy. Disabled secure boot, installed nvidia drivers and redid the secure boot keys. Lordy it's fast. I forgot how much better per dollar a desktop is. #pcgaming #homelab

#ChaosWlesie czyli #Hakierspejs #Polesie 💪 Przyszła wiosna, więc wróciły myśli, by w wolnym pokoju (obecnie rowerownia) stworzyć pracownię, gdzie będą mogły przyjść inne osoby i np. zainstalować z moją pomocą #Linux-a na starszym lapku, sprawdzić, czy im odpowiada #KDE czy jednak #Gnome albo inny desktop - na którymś z moich, coś sobie zabrać, coś zostawić, czy naprawić jakiegoś grata. Muszę ogarnąć jakieś stoły, krzesła, może poprawić podłogę. Prąd, internet, ściany, sufit i okno już są ;) No i może ja się tam przeniosę z pracą, bo czasami mam wrażenie, że jestem w robocie od rana do nocy, bo wszystko odbywa się w jednym wielkim pomieszczeniu z piecem kaflowym (ciepełko w zimie). Podobno tak lepiej, można np. "skończyć pracę na dzisiaj". Jakie macie doświadczenia? Praca w #HomeLab / #HomeOffice i kontakt z ludźmi przez telefon, socjalki czy komunikatory całą dobę potrafi zmęczyć 😜 Na zdjęciach prostownik do naprawy, polski, z Bielska Białej 😍 (moje miasto rodzinne). Użytkownik "wgrzewał" nim coś w plastik a następnie próbował sam coś lutować i wyszedł straszny bałagan. Naprawi się 🛠️ Ma może ktoś schemat do Kukla BK 12/10?🤔 #Hackerspace #Makerspace #Naprawialnia

@felixule@techtett.de for my current main #homelab system, I did go the expensive ECC route. Well, I thought it was expensive about a year ago. Main reason is that in my #dayjob we do have quite a number of systems reporting both correctable and uncorrectable ECC errors from time to time. Thus, I do think it's worthwhile but at the moment not so much 😦 @homelab@fedigroups.social

I've been doing some recreational #homelab -ing (my own term :D) over the weekend. Though the results are not a world class achievement, yet I'm so happy and excited it worked. Ahh, Anfängerfehler! 🤦‍♂️ Habe vorhin meine FritzBox neu gestartet und mich gewundert, warum das VPN tot ist. Der Grund: WireGuard löst die dynamische MyFritz-IP natürlich nur einmal beim Starten auf und funkt danach fröhlich ins Leere. 🙄 #wireguard

After looking at what hostnames I'm using on my LAN, I realized it's a pretty basic setup. What are some good setups or recommendations for setting/using hostnames in a #linux home #LAN with a #homelab setup? I'm not really trying to mimic a corporate setup though there might be some useful lessons to learn there too. I'm looking using TLDs for my hostnames that could not be used in the wild, but whenever I look for banned or reserved TLDs it's always in respect to certification, and not the TLDs themselves being prevented from use.

Found an issue with the Borg backup cron job, but got that fixed up and ran backups for today. Fortunately, this one didn't take 20 hours...lol. Backups are now verified but I'll feel better if the cron job works as expected tomorrow. #homelab #borg #backups

The EMC disk shelf decided it wanted to ramp the fans to "taking off the flight deck of an aircraft carrier", so I decided to updated all the Proxmox nodes, the NAS, and then power cycle the EMC disk shelf. Fortunately, that worked and everything is back online. Definitely a pain in the ass though... #homelab #proxmox #truenas #emc

Been reading "How Linux Works" by Brian Ward and it makes me want to install Arch / Gentoo / LFS despite knowing that this is a terrible idea for a computer I want to y'know, use. Question to those who are #selfhosting or #homelab I want an external service (IFTTT) to send a webhook to a self hosted application on my network, but I don’t want to open additional ports or expose the entirety of that application to the outside world. Does anyone have any recommendations on how I can do this. I run NGINX Proxy Manager and anticipate this is probably the best option but would value any suggestions.
