Meanwhile the manosphere — a toxic ecosystem of influencers, grifters and misogynist clowns — is pumping out content radicalizing millions of young men into seeing women as enemies.

Dead Man’s Wire tells the absolutely insane true story of Anthony “Tony” Kiritsis — a man who got financially wrecked by a mortgage company and decided he wasn’t going to just quietly disappear.
So what does he do?
He walks into the office of a mortgage executive, straps a shotgun to the guy’s neck using a literal dead man’s wire — meaning if he lets go, if the cops shoot him, if the hostage moves… the gun goes off.
Yeah. That actually happened.
Directed by Gus Van Sant and anchored by a seriously unhinged-in-the-best-way performance from Bill Skarsgård, this isn’t some cartoon villain fantasy. It’s tense, uncomfortable, tragic, and darkly absurd at times. You don’t have to agree with everything the guy did — obviously — but the film forces you to sit with what happens when someone feels completely crushed by a system that grinds people down and calls it business.
We don’t get many films that even flirt with anti-capitalist rage without turning it into a joke or a moral lecture.
This one actually goes there.
Beautifully shot. Superb acting. Morally messy in the best way.
And stick around through the credits — there’s a nice little surprise waiting for you.

#Prairieland Trial Update: Blessed Are the Zine Makers

Day one of the Prairieland trial was supposed to cement the government’s “ambush” narrative. Instead, it started poking holes in it.

This is the federal case against nine defendants stemming from the July 4, 2025 noise demonstration outside the Prairieland ICE detention center in Alvarado, Texas. The government has framed it as a coordinated attack on law enforcement — even tying it into their broader “Antifa = domestic terrorism” storyline.
In opening statements, prosecutors leaned heavily on political literature and zines as evidence of conspiracy. A printing press found in a raid was presented as one of the key links tying some of the defendants to the broader case. Yes — a printing press.

But the real shift came during cross-examination of Lt. Thomas Gross, the Alvarado officer who was allegedly shot during the incident.

Gross testified that when he arrived on scene, there was no serious crime underway beyond what he described as “criminal mischief.” That already strains the idea of a premeditated armed ambush.
He admitted he drew his weapon without identifying a clear threat. He admitted pointing his firearm at the back of a fleeing person. He couldn’t explain how he was supposedly facing a shooter yet was shot in the back. He was treated at the hospital for 2–4 hours and released the same day — and authorities still haven’t produced hospital records months later.

That testimony does not neatly support the image of police walking into a planned terrorist assault.

Meanwhile, access to the courtroom has been restricted, with family members removed or displaced to accommodate law enforcement seating.

Overlay all of this with the political climate: the case has been publicly framed by top federal officials as the first major prosecution of “Antifa” under new domestic terrorism prioritization guidelines. That context matters. It shapes jury pools. It shapes media narratives. It shapes everything.

Day one didn’t prove the government’s case. If anything, it exposed tension between the rhetoric and the actual testimony.

The trial continues.

PRAIRIELAND TRIAL UPDATE - Trump appointed judge to lead jury selection aka voir dire

If you don’t know what voir dire is: it’s jury selection — the part where lawyers and the judge question potential jurors to uncover bias and weed out people who can’t be fair.

What’s normal: lawyers get real time to ask jurors questions (often directly), follow up, and build a record about bias. It’s messy on purpose, because bias is messy.

What’s happening here: Judge Pittman is running voir dire himself. Lawyers can only submit questions for him to maybe ask, and they can’t ask jurors directly. That’s a huge control point in a case where the entire fight is about narrative and political framing.

And it’s not just jury selection:

Opening statements: capped at 8 minutes per defendant

Trial time: capped at 35 hours TOTAL for all defendants (while the U.S. gets 35 hours)

That’s not “keeping things efficient.” That’s compressing the defense in a high-stakes case.

Yesterday (Feb 17, 2026) jury selection started in the Prairieland case — and the judge immediately declared a mistrial because a defense attorney wore a Jesse Jackson shirt. Yeah. That’s the bar now.

This trial matters because it’s part of the same old authoritarian playbook: take a protest against state violence, ignore the violence, and put the protestors on trial as “terrorists.” The state wants you focused on fireworks and graffiti instead of the cage they were protesting outside of.

Prairieland is an ICE detention facility with a long list of abuse allegations — including the recent reporting on Leqaa Kordia, who had a seizure and was reportedly shackled during hospitalization after being held there. If that doesn’t make your stomach turn, check your pulse.

Right off the bat: I loved the #BadBunny halftime show.
Yeah, I could do without some of the over-the-top sexy shit — but let’s be real, that’s his bread and butter. I’m not excusing it, just saying: if that’s all you saw, you missed the whole damn point.

From the very first image — people cutting sugar cane — this was political as hell. Sugar cane isn’t some random aesthetic. It’s the industrial agriculture imposed by the United States after they took over Puerto Rico in 1898. That was the moment communal farming was destroyed and Puerto Ricans were forced into brutal export agriculture for U.S. profit. That history matters.

The entire performance was an homage to the island I grew up in. The neighborhoods, the sounds, the colors, the references — there’s so much nostalgia packed in there I honestly can’t even list it all. They went down the fucking list. Every Puerto Rican I know was watching this with tears in their eyes.

And maybe most important of all: he did the whole thing in Spanish. At a time when Spanish has basically been criminalized — when people are afraid to speak it in public, afraid of having the “wrong” accent, especially after years of Trump-era racism — that alone is a massive political act.

I need to rewatch it because there’s so much going on, but I wanted to put this out there now. Because I already know a lot of people aren’t going to get it at first glance.

But make no mistake: this wasn’t just a halftime show.
It was a huge cultural and political moment — and for Puerto Ricans especially, it meant a hell of a lot.
