Last year 185 whistleblowers felt safe to report doping issues in over 25 sports in the UK, leading to sanctions on 15 people for anti-doping violations.

"Seeing yet another year of consistently high reports coming in has been positive, it shows that individuals feel safe coming to us and that they want to protect the integrity of their sport," Mario Theophanous, head of intelligence and investigations at Ukad, said."

When whistleblowers come forward, they often don't stop with their first disclosure. Initial tips frequently lead to follow-ups that lead to additional violations and expand investigations. In FY24, one whistleblower’s repeated disclosures resulted in an award of more than $600,000.
