"While the use of the FACE Act against leftist protest activity has gained prominence, it didn’t start under Donald Trump: The Biden administration’s DOJ indicted and later convicted abortion rights activist Gabriella Oropesa for spray-painting a number of “crisis pregnancy centers”––which pose as abortion clinics to mislead and coerce people seeking abortions into keeping their pregnancies––in the wake of the Supreme Court’s draft leak overturning Roe v. Wade.

“The Trump administration wants to completely snuff out dissent and shred our rights to free speech and to protest,” said NYCLU Senior Policy Counsel Justin Harrison in a post on the NYCLU website. “New York politicians should be racing to put out this fire, not adding fuel to it.”

"Roughly 100 protesters at the Dorset Street scene have blocked the front and back doors of the building and are refusing leave.

At 1 p.m. roughly 14 ICE agents were outside the small, white clapboard building. A growing crowd of protesters linked arms and formed a human chain around the building. People blew whistles, chanted “ICE out,” and in some cases directly confronted the ICE officers telling them to “get off the property.” South Burlington police blocked off a stretch of Dorset Street, and a number of Vermont State Police officers arrived on the scene.

Activists appeared prepared to stay around the building for the long haul. A tent in the front lawn gave cover to a pile of warm layers, snacks and water. One person brought a charcoal grill and began to roast hot dogs."

"Donald Trump’s administration made a show out of arresting a Minneapolis man they called an “antifa domestic terrorist,” asserting that he was being charged with threatening ICE agents.

However, the administration appears to have arrested this self-described “antifa” member, Kyle Wagner, in large part for allegedly “cyberstalking” Jayden Scott, a well-known right-wing agitator. Scott has been in Minneapolis as a counter-protester boosting ICE, and publicly crowed about Renee Nicole Good’s murder in Minneapolis, screaming, “We executed one of you.” Scott also filmed himself standing in front of a reporter’s apartment door in an overt attempt at intimidation. The reporter successfully filed for a protective order against Scott, court records show.

In Wagner’s case, the government has chosen to intervene in what may be best described as a social-media pissing match between an avowed antifascist and a fascist – to arrest the antifascist."

Student walkouts against ICE show no signs of slowing down - even in the face of violent attacks from the police, suspension of students by school administrators, and even arrests of supporters. In Pennsylvania, a police chief violently attacked one student as police made multiple arrests. Workers forced a major AT&T call center to close. The biggest nursing home in the Twin Cities metro area held mandatory all-staff meetings to threaten to fire employees who participated, but those scare tactics failed and they faced mass absenteeism. The combined population of Minneapolis and Saint Paul is less than 750,000; that Friday, we saw an estimated 100,000 people take the streets in sub-zero temperatures. It is safe to conclude that at least one out of every eight Twin Cities residents took part in the general strike. The leaderless character of the resistance to ICE in Minnesota is precisely what has made it effective. The decentralized nature of the rapid response groups has made them durable and agile. The initiative of autonomous fighters in the neighborhoods has enabled people to rise in revolt every time they have shot or murdered our neighbors. Atlanta Community Press Collective reporting that "Police have deployed tear gas. There are also reports of tazing and rubber bullets deployed against the protesters on the Emory quad." Reports of around 20 arrests.
