I just released the second album of my remastered, remixed, re-recorded archive of songs and music I have written over the last 40+ years just in time for #BandcampFriday which begins at 9:00pm tonight and runs until 9:00pm Saturday night NZ time.
This album - The Party Police includes some original recordings of #Wellington band Bump’n Ugly from 1989 and 1990, some original 4 track recordings and some new recordings of the songs I wrote during this period.
All the music is previously unreleased and has been either restored from audio cassette, remastered from original 4 track recordings or new versions of the original songs.
I have included an update to the original song ‘The Greenhouse’ which I wrote in 1989 about the threat of #ClimateChange 37 years ago and updated a few of the lyrics as we are no longer threatened by the use of chlorofluorocarbon {CFCs) in refrigeration which was causing a giant hole in the ozone layer above #Aotearoa #NewZealand at the time, I also dropped the third verse as the French are no longer testing nuclear weapons in the South Pacific. Both the original and new versions of the song are included on this album.
I feel the last song ’Jigaboo Music’ probably needs some context to make sense. It was a song I wrote after I and the late Gerrard Tahupare had a meeting with an A&R dude at a record company in Tamaki Makaurau which reflects the inherent racism in the #NewZealandMusic industry at the time. The story behind the song is included in the about this track text on #Bandcamp.
Anyhow enough of the sales pitch- if you enjoy the music I would really appreciate any $ I can generate to continue with my archival project.
