For International Women's Day 2026, I just re-read "The Master's Tools Will Never Dismantle the Master's House" chapter in Audre Lourde's "Sister Outsider". Those four pages (in my Penguin Classics version) hold such a lot to think about.
This is the famous bit that is often quoted:
"It is learning how to take our differences and make them strengths. _For the master's tools will never dismantle the master's house._ They may allow us temporarily to beat him at his own game, but they will never enable us to bring about genuine change. And this fact is only threatening to those women who still define the master's house as their only source of support."
Words to ponder not just today, but every day.

Læser “Min Kim” af Eva Tind for min #FredagsBog. Jeg synes det er relevant generelt, men især op til valget. Adoption er et emne som diskuteres for tiden, men måske nogle gange mere indirekte. Det er et vigtigt emne, har jeg lært, men folk ved ikke nok om det, eller vil ikke vide noget om det. Bogen er en fin fortælling om både Eva Tinds og Min Kims liv i Danmark som adopterede. De historier der dukker op omkring især Min Kim er ret rystende. Jeg har hørt grimme historier før, men jeg er chokerende hver gang over hvordan nogle folk tror de kan behandle adopterede. Det er det rene kolonialisme. Og racisme selvfølgelig. Det er penge, ikke kærlighed, der tæller mest. ☹️😡 #adoption #EvaTind #bookstodon

To all those who think it is fine to use AI to make images and not pay human artists for their creativity and time, I would like to remind you all that there is another free image service that has been around for ages - 20 years in fact - that has free images to use in your PowerPoints or whatever. It is called Creative Commons. I have always used it in my own slide presentations over the years. A ton of great images to use. Just read the instructions on how to credit the images, like typing in a little bit of extra text in your presentation. You can still read, can't you? Great. I find design joy in looking at these Japanese New Year's cards, which I didn't know were a thing. I love the original creativity coming from the brains of human beings and not some slop coming from the enshittificator. Only a human could draw horseshoe prints in the snow and have that be the entire minimalist design that, in my opinion, sends a very clear message in the context of year of the horse and new year's cards. So many other designs to delight you.

Does anyone know why a school for girls in Iran was bombed when the two countries bombing Iran claim to be extreme experts at _precision_ bombing? Were they just being their evil selves and killing innocent people on purpose? I am talking about the bombing of the Shajareh Tayyebeh school in Minab. The death toll is currently at 115. I am watching "Hit the Road" ("Jaddeh khaki") by Panah Panahi on this dreary day. I had it on my to-watch list for a while. It feels a bit weird that I chose to watch an Iranian movie today of all days. It feels far more constructive, however. Watching cinematic art from someone who happens to be the son of Jafar Panahi, whose "Taxi Teheran" I enjoyed. Art is an oasis of sanity in the Upside Down, which is where we are at right now IMHO.

@jwcph@helvede.net Classic example over the years is that you can’t easily search for health info about certain body parts without getting info about “entertainment” with said body parts. Or info about other serious personal life situations where you got creepy stuff cluttering up results. Organisations for the serious bits do try to ensure good structure and good info, but before you find them, you can encounter utter garbage that can be upsetting.

Lille bordeaux-rød farvet kogebog på ca. størrelse med de gamle Karolines Køkken kogebøger, men ikke så brede. Jeg købte den i tidlig 2002. Det var opskrifter for hjertepatienter. Forfatter er en yngre kvinde (dengang) som jeg troede hed Trine eller Tine som havde diskuterede en masse med læger. Der var en god intro om Omega 6 vs omega 3. Hun havde opskrifter for kager der brugte oliven olie. Jeg ejede den på et tidspunkt pga min afdød mands helbred, men bogen er forsvundet undervejs på mystisk vis. Har søgt på kryds og tvær på Google og bibliotek.dk men forgæves. Idéer??? #kogebog #dansk

@redcrew@mstdn.social I am not sure I can put "managing" and "photos" in the same sentence. :D :D They are generally in one glorious pile in Photos (I have a Mac). Over the years, I do have photos in folders after dates or specific events from when you could start to get digital copies of the paper photos you could develop. Therefore, some older ones might be better organised under a birthday date or some specific event. This isn't great if I am thinking where is that photo of Bob at some party when I don't remember which party or which year!
I thought your advice the other was great where I take maybe 5-10 photos of, say, a landscape or a portrait so my folders are bloating. That is especially true with grandkids. I mean, when I was little, my parents probably had about 10 photos max from an entire year. Now I have 10 photos from the first hour of a birthday party! :D I also have tons of garbage photos where I try to take a photo of a flower in the wind, and I hope one is sharp - but I don't clear out the truly crappy ones right away. I have also planned to do a chunk at a time. Like 30 min. 3 times a week or something to slowly whittle things down.

My mom taught me to not swear. Of course, once I left home, I swore when I felt like it, but I was rather restrained. As I grow older, I do swear more and more when it suits me or the occasion. Saying "fuck ICE" doesn't feel like swearing. It feels like those words belong together. Like a fact, perhaps. Like "abolish ICE"? So... #FuckICE and #AbolishICE (the latter definitely not being a swear word, and also being a bit of a fact that needs realising).
