@Natasha_Jay I like that it's in Waitrose. Because of course it is.

@lproven It always annoys me that ASCII and thereafter Unicode always said they weren't going to add formatting mechanisms, as that was for other people. And so instead Markdown invented a way to be always ambiguously unsure about the meanings of regular ASCII punctuation to stand in for formatting requests.
Just think what we could have had instead...

@emocoder And it's much harder to do that second 90% if you don't have all the mental context of how you made the first 90%.
It's like playing a game and skipping through the first level straight to the second. Sure you'll start sooner but you won't arrive with all the lessons the first level would have taught you.

This thread highlights one of the key differences between the design processes behind #RakuLang and #Perl.
Raku's design all came from the question "What could I build if I could basically start again from scratch? What ideas might I have? How do I build a coherent whole from this blank canvas?"
Perl's ongoing design is all rooted in "What would I use right now in this real code I am writing today? What features would I like to have that I currently do not?"

This Week in #Perl Steering Council (#PSC)
* We remembered we still need to write the announcement for deprecating smartmatch
* We need to resync with Neil about how "SSL in Core" investigations are going
* Reviewed RFCs and found a shortlist of "soon to expire" ones. A nudge email will be sent to the RFC sponsors.
