I really shouldn't have to say that there are ways to insult and make fun of evil bastards without body shaming or ableism.

Idk who needs to hear this, but you should quit delaying.
Go to the bathroom and pee.
Oh yeah, happy three months to this instance! :neofox_happy:
Happy to be here with you lovely bunch, federating across the interwebs! 💜
California wants all operating systems (including Linux distributions) to have age verification.
Let's not get this mixed up - Age verification = mandatory identification to use a computer.
Besides the various issues I have (and you should have) with that, how can we be sure that whoever is doing the verification can be trusted, even if they're government?
I mean, the US is essentially fueling the fire of trans genocide right now, among other things. They can't be trusted one bit.
Nobody should be supporting this.
This is a general invitation to chat (async, likely) or otherwise connect if you have an interest in disc dumping/preservation of CD, DVD, Blu-Ray, UHD Blu-Ray, and/or game console discs, want to get into it, and you aren't sure where to start, what to do, or what to use.
It's something I've been doing for a long time, and it's something I'm very passionate about. I'm happy to help newbies get their efforts off the ground if they want assistance.
I wouldn't say I'm any sort of authority or 'expert', but I've done this for so long that I'm aware of many quirks and 'gotchas' that come with it, and I'm happy to share my knowledge and experience! :neofox_happy:
Feel free to boost, if you'd like! :boosts_ok:
It's called Unreal Engine because the system requirements are FUCKING UNREAL :neofox_googly_woozy:
What are you doing, Stepwagon? :neofox_bottom:
I can't believe that's legitimately the name of a vehicle that has been selling for years
Gaining the confidence to wear more of my comfy femme clothes at work! Wearing a black tank top under this purple plaid button-up!

Scammers abusing open-registration instances?
Say it ain't so!
Oh thank goodness my phone stopped reporting there's moisture in the charge port. :neofox_flop:
A friend complemented me the other day for how my Plex server has had better uptime than Azure over the last year.
Writing work emails is a struggle when you're eepy and both the caffeine and ADHD meds haven't seemed to have kicked in yet. :neofox_googly_woozy:
I'm weighing the pros and cons of enabling remote media caching again.
The slower throughput to some instances, either because of the path my instance takes to connect to their instance over the Internet, and/or because of bandwidth limitations somewhere along the way, has shown itself to make the experience somewhat shittier viewing posts on this instance, imo.
I want to re-enable it, but I really can't afford to upgrade storage if that's what I need to do to keep the setting enabled long-term. :/
Owwwwwowowowowwwww
It's so dry that the skin between my baby toe and the bottom of my foot split, and it stings like a motherfucker.
"She cut off her thumb and cooked it to feed to me"
Yeah, you asked her to, you fuckin' weirdo.
I really wish we were at the point in technology where I could have knowledge about reverse engineering, how to code in assembly, and such beamed into my head in seconds. :neofox_flop:
Does anyone else get unreasonably frustrated when struggling to understand something (either due to hearing/auditory processing issues, or a knowledge gap), as well as failing to be understood?
Hey y'all, I've got a large request.
I'd love to expand Omnidrive (https://github.com/RibShark/OmniDrive) to a wider range of disc drives, but I have little to no experience working with these chipsets or ODD firmware modification outside of actually flashing the drives.
Rib's Omnidrive release is targeting MediaTek MT1959-based drives, and it works great! I'd like to make it work with MediaTek MT1939-based drives, of which I have at least a half-dozen.
I asked Rib what I should look into for a good place to get started, and he said "IDA to disassemble the firmware file (Ghidra should work too), Bus Hound to sniff SCSI commands; the coastermelt project has a lot of documentation for the MT1939 (most of which applied to the MT1959 too). The ECMA specs for CD and DVD were helpful too.".
Anyway, I already feel like I'm out of my depth, but I'd still like to make this happen. Is there anyone with a lot of patience who would like to work with me on occasion to make progress to get this working on MT1939 chipsets? I'm not afraid of killing a drive or two to make it happen. Greater good, and such.
Ideally, I'd be able to learn on the fly and actually contribute more than just hardware testing. I just don't really know what I'm doing right now. :neofox_dizzy:
Also found this adorable trans kitty pin at the flea market! :3
Vendor was a local cat shelter! 💜
Found these stickers at the flea market, and we had to pick up a couple.
Kitty's cooking up some Cheemo Ukrainian style perogies tonight for dinner.
I can't wait. :neofox_reach_drool:
