@ChrisMayLA6 People should consider that as a species we're all in this together, when we waste energy fighting each other we take away from the positive side of the possibility sphere. Freedom is intrinsically linked to responsibility, people want freedom without responsibility but when given that freedom results in actions that bring harm to others, that freedom ends up being taken away. Use the freedom responsibly and you can keep it. And this tends to be collective, so even if one individual operates responsibly and with integrity, if his or her cohorts don't, freedoms tend to be taken from the group.

@SecondUniverse @ChrisMayLA6 Men are not allowed to murder, women in some contexts are, you are right it's not fair. If we have an unwanted child we should have the same right to snuff it.

@hopeless @eudoxos @mason @Paul_Taylor The real issue I think is the Internet started out as a Military and University only Arpanet, and during that era mail protocols were developed. Trust on that network was high, almost absolute, that does not work on the Internet we have to day but the base protocols haven't changed, just a lot of add-on's tacked on, os that makes it not easy.

@anders @noybeu @Paul_Taylor Here is the thing, people will have disputes and disagreements, you've got two avenues for resolving them, talking or fighting, I personally perform the former. When you start restricting free speech you eliminate the first option. The legislation the EU passes isn't about monopolies, it is about political control.

@Paul_Taylor If the OS underlying the mail server isn't secure, neither will the mail server be, if the mail server isn't you will get a negative reputation and experience the issues many here are complaining about.

@anders @Paul_Taylor I would suggest that it is not as arbitrary as you think, having run mail services since 1985 I've become fairly qualified in this arena.

@joost @Paul_Taylor I don't agree with a lot of what the US Administration does, but not allowing Europe to censor our media is absolutely something I do agree with. Wars, no, anti-censorship, yes. The two issues are not, in my opinion, unrelated. If we can't talk about things over which we disagree, the alternative is to fight over them, I prefer the former.

@Paul_Taylor I'd be willing to bet his system is being abused and he doesn't know it. I went through a period where we were often blocked by larger carriers, and it turned out it was happening because spammers had broke accounts by brute force then used them to spam. Adding fail2ban to stop the brute forcing combined with a filter that looked for e-mail on a single account coming from three or more nations on a 24 hour period and if that happened locked the account and forced a password change solved the issue.

@Paul_Taylor Unfortunately widespread abuse by spammers, scammers, and people intent on destroying infrastructure have made mail filters complex and false positives a side effect. I personally wish it weren't so but some people are walking typing turds so that's what we all get.

@Tattie I don't have a general issue with trans people, but I do have a general problem with people who can't or refuse to use language properly, a phobia is a FEAR of something, it is NOT a dislike, they are two quite distinctly different emotional reactions.

@GM7077 I agree but first you have to convince people the devil is not external, Iran and Islam aren't the great devil, the USA/Israel and Christianity/Judaism is not the great devil, the devil is in poor human choices and we can and must make better ones.

@mk It's certainly caused a population decline since women in the workforce and by in large women who do not wish to bear children, but is that women's fault or corporate greed and corporations unwillingness to accommodate family?

@IncHulk @OccuWorld Well Ok perhaps your time frame is too short, but I've seen the outcome of these policies already here and it's not good.

@OccuWorld It is an unfortunate state of society when non-productive people feel entitled to the earnings of the productive.

@OccuWorld You're assuming the rich won't move which is probably NOT a good assumption. But you'll spend the money anyhow and when they move be in the Red, Washington State already tried this, now Seattle has a bunch of empty office buildings and the State is 15 billion in the red, and rather than backwalk their stupidity they're doubling down.
