A major barrier in my life has been a hypersensitivity to touch. Fingertips make me feel like I want to jump out my skin and run screaming down the street. It feels like a kind of horrible electricity or violation. It is a problem for intimacy of course as I can devolve into compulsively "defending" myself at the slightest touch.

I am just wondering if anyone else has had a similar struggle?

I expect Labour are going to respond to to the Green surge by some token economic measures, but I think they will "balance" that by doubling down on culture wars posturing. Expect them to portray the Greens as the woke transgender for everyone party.

They started this in the byelection, accusing the Greens of wanting to turn your daughters into sex workers, and to turn playgrounds into crack dens.

It supports the idea of a social media ban for under-16s.

I also don't want to see children exposed to offensive, dehumanizing "content", but I am wondering why a ban is the cure. The examples the writer cites are all examples of simply unacceptable speech. If the social media platforms had effective moderation, this would not be a problem. If every instance of misogyny and other hate speech was taken down, and abusers got reliably suspended and banned, the experience of girls and minorities on these platforms would be infinitely better. The people doing the hate might be pushed to reconsider their behavior.

Instead we will take away internet freedom from young people and force identity verification on everyone, undermine VPNs and so on. Why? Because that will be easier and cheaper for the tech giants.

Don't ban girls from social media. Ban the abusers.

One point against capitalism that I don't hear frequently is that rich people deliberately waste money and destroy wealth. For example, ten thousand dollar bottles of wine. The point of the flagrant waste is it provides an opportunity to display their financial power - I can burn money and I don't care. I don't need three yachts, that's why I've got six.

Whenever I see rich people blowing cash on clothes, cars and other luxuries, I think of the weeks, months, years and decades of productive labor they have stolen and are deliberately destroying in order to perform their wealth.

It's not a "trickle down" system, it's a "trickle up and poof it's gone" system.
