If LLMs were actually intelligent rather than stochastic parrots mimicking human language they wouldn’t need to work with human-readable abstractions like high-level programming languages; they could produce machine code directly.

Work wants me to try Copilot. Not happy about it, but fine, it’s work.

Copilot doesn’t work because I keep all my stuff in `~/Documents/Noah’s/`, with a proper curly apostrophe.

I renamed that directory with a straight tick. This cost me both typographic dignity and having to close everything I had open.

Now builds are failing because Rollup doesn’t escape paths and a straight tick is a string delimiter.

AI feelings aside, the tooling around it (and web dev) is garbage.

People: AI will democratize software/content/whatever production! Um, you do realize that, far from democratizing production, it centralizes the means of production into the hands of a cartel of a small number of firms, right?

The baby woke us up in the middle of the night and my half-asleep brain asked my wife whether the mouse cursor also needed a diaper. Specifically a diaper with a magnetic clasp.

(I really was picturing a tiny diaper on a mouse cursor. And when she suggested that I was still half asleep and this didn’t make sense I insisted that it did. It took nearly until I started changing the actual (non-magnetic) diaper to realize this made no sense.)
