British person, now in Canada. I teach applied statistics with #rstats at U of Toronto Scarborough. Otherwise, follow soccer and rugby league, ride transit, walk. Grew up in UK with 80s pop.

The big picture is of a train at Paignton station, the little one is of a park bench near me in a Canadian winter.

This was a rather opportunistic capture with a Leica M240 camera, a 35mm lens, and a tabletop tripod on a windowsill, just before a late afternoon thunderstorm. The light always does most of the work

I have mixed feelings about the Leica M system. The lenses are of very high quality, and everything is small enough that I can travel (or hike) with a fairly complete kit when I'd otherwise not bring

The other thing that drives me nuts about Leica is their marketing, which makes you feel like you're buying fine jewelry rather than a useful camera system.

@FediTips@social.growyourown.services I moved from mastodon.cloud to a smaller server, which has been a great choice. (I think I used one of the tips to find the new server.)

The two hardest problems in Computer Science are: 1. Getting up in the morning 2. Going to bed at a reasonable time

@cstross@wandering.shop one time, I was travelling on a train through Cowdenbeath in December around 3 pm, and it was getting dark. (On the same trip, I went from Glasgow to Mallaig: it was dark when I left Glasgow, and dark again before I left Mallaig.)
