@lydiaconwell I'm not up to date on this, but afaik systemd will include an age field that might be used for this.
I'll admit I haven't tried either (yet) but distros like artix and devuan doesn't use systemd so those might be worth a look.
For me personally it comes down to whether it's a field I can fill out myself (which I'd be okay with) or it's tied to some digital ID and/or selfie crap (which I'd resist in any way I can).

I don't trust all future governments to handle data about what sites I visit or what forums I participate in responsibly. They may not like my sexual orientation. They may not like my political or religious views. They may not like that I'm a Linux & FOSS user, dev, or gamer. They may not like my medical history.
This is why I'm fundamentally opposed to having to verify my age for online activities with an app that calls home to a state authority, like the #eudi_wallet. Scrap it!

Also. Our current eID and my bank app work fine on my google-free phone. But suddenly wanting to see potentially spicy content online requires higher security levels than getting a house loan? Make it make sense!

@EUCommission How did we go from a peace project to a a mass surveillance project? I do not believe the people who participated in founding the EU would look kindly upon requiring us to register with a state actor, through the EUDI, to take part in public discourse or talk to each other online.
