I don't know who needs to hear this, but it's perfectly fair and valid to find someone's tics annoying or irritating or grating. Especially vocal tics. Extra if you're also #NeuroDivergent and have sensory sensitivities. I can empathize, I promise! That in and of itself is not ableist.
The important thing is to remain polite about it. Our experiences might be different, but we don't want to be doing these tics either. A reasonable and level-headed conversation about accommodations is fine. Acting impatient toward us or telling us to stop it, that's where it gets rude and ableist.
I say this as the one who's performing the tics. I'm a 50-year-old woman who's had #TouretteSyndrome since age 7.
