BTW, if you like opera, and theatrical experiences and will be in Auckland in March, NZ Opera are mounting the very highly acclaimed reworking of Bartok's Bluebeard's Castle that imagines it as a man living with his wife who is suffering dementia and from all accounts of the UK staging it is VERY effective. If I was in Auckland for that weekend i would be going.

Bluebeard's Castle is a remarkable work for those who do not know it, a piece for 2 voices, (and normally some extra performers near the end) with a fantastic score that is often just performed as a concert work. It is deeply weird and symbolic, but this new version with its retelling of the story, makes it a deeply moving experience
