🇳🇿 Global mass #transit operator Kinetic has secured all four contract units in #Auckland Transport’s Tranche 3 bus services tender, worth NZD755 million, marking its largest contract in Auckland. Three central units will run for 11 years and the eastern unit for 8.6 years. Kinetic will invest more than NZD121 million in new zero-emission buses and depot upgrades, including expanded charging infrastructure and a second overhead gantry charging system at its City depot. In total, 201 zero-emission buses will operate under the contract, with 125 entering service in 2027. A record 165 electric buses will begin operating from the first day of central services in July 2027, the largest initial rollout in New Zealand. Eastern services will start in December 2026.
