to clarify, I don't run Mastodon, but my rpi-5 Trixie runs Pixelfed, Nextcloud, WordPress and Jellyfin, although jellyfin struggles with a few transcodings.
My laptop is no slouch, 16GB quad-Intel 2.6GHz yet with all the overhead and proxying of snaps, Ubuntu could take upwards of ten seconds to change context or open a plasma menu. I had to adapt to gnome, but that was relatively painless.

here's an Apache #Tomcat #Java thing I'd never heard before and although a tech gave it as an excuse, I do wonder if it is true. Apparently, if a Tomcat app receives an HTTPS request and it cannot decrypt the keystore, the entire JVM crashes. I've been using Tomcat since its debut and Java since it was Oak, and I ain't never heard of THIS one before. True?
Tomcat9 on Java8 if that matters.

@andreintg@mastodon.gamedev.place will this become a 3D print? I see Toho has been marketing squirt guns; my experience with plastics was injection molding which would be easy to do if you had a mold, but perhaps 3d printing could easily invert a model to print instead the injection mold?

it was originally Oak, and I toyed with it a bit as it was an advance over Eric's Inheritance Thing, a suite of C macros a collegue had developed at Cognos after we'd hit the limits of Eiffel. This was a good move as I was approached in 1995 with headhunters hoping for five years Java experience and lo, thanks to Oak, I had that!
Trouble was, I'd never work for anyone with an HR dept who would ask such a stupid uninformed requirement.

Many years ago, like 30, I ran a community forum using I think Drupal, and it was mostly the usual shitposting to amuse each other. One day I posted that I'd seen a MiG jet for sale on eBay, thinking it was funny. Someone posted a comment to say damn, they would have liked to bid on that, followed by another saying really, I just happen to have one for sale! A few comments went by about what was on offer and then they took it from there in emails. Apparently, at that time, MiGs were popular for airshows.
