Tenacity Audio Editor

#libid3tag 0.16.4 has been released! This is one of the largest releases, if not the largest release, of libid3tag ever since we started our fork. Check out the relesae here: https://codeberg.org/tenacityteam/libid3tag/releases/tag/0.16.4

In this release are many bug fixes, namely with PIC and UTF-16LE frames, a bump in the minimum required CMake version, and others too. See the above changelo for more info. We also thank mitchblank on Codeberg for contributing a lot of neat things to the library and helping move it forward too!

#rapidjson sounds great until you realize it's not had a release in almost 10 years at this point 😳

Well, at least #simdjson has had a better release record, the latest release being in December 2025 👀

We only fixed the indicator right now, but it's one step in the right direction. A very small one, but a step nonetheless! 😄

This is potentially about dropping our #AppImage (again) because unfortunately it's been riddled with quite a few issues, instead keeping our #Flatpak. (This will likely not be the case for the upcoming 1.3.5 release though).

Please feel free to share your thoughts. We're interested to see what people are going to think and how we can proceed on this (if we should proceed).

Hey everyone! Not much activity to report on this time, but just some house keeping that's just been done, mainly two PRs that were merged!

The first PR: fixes an issue where #Tenacity would crash on startup after going back to the latest stable version and resetting the toolbar layout. Toolbar preferences are also now properly reset when upgrading to 1.4.

The second PR: more cherry picks from upstream, but this time they're from the latest development version of AU 3.

Hey everyone! @gperson@social.linux.pizza here with a few things. First, I now have a new laptop, so I'll be able to do many more things with #Tenacity now. Second off, some things are moving recently, so baring university classes, you may see a little more activity on Tenacity.

Thanks again for everyone's support! We have a bit of a backlog of work to address, so we'll try to work on that while also getting releases of Tenacity, libid3tag, and even libmad out.

So...looks like our preference migration code in the latest nightly build was broken all along, all because we excluded 1.3.x from the code that was supposed to migrate 1.3.x preferences in 1.4. How? Using '<' instead of '<=' (the wrong operator) 💀.

Well, that's why 1.4 is in alpha, and luckily, we already have the fix prepared in this PR: https://codeberg.org/tenacityteam/tenacity/pulls/702

@tiredhorizon@mstdn.social To our knowledge, Tenacity was never available in Fedora's official repos or anything, but it is available as a Flatpak from Flathub. You can still install Tenacity as a Flatpak if desired.

Is it true that the last of the E-AC3 (Dolby Digital Plus) patents have expired? That would be great news to hear...for reasons 👀
