What Sir Tim did was glue stuff together in a new (that is old - see 1945 :) way. But the HTTP protocol doesn't allow you to search either. That'd be WHOIS and so on. I have no problems imagining a gopher-based search index. Someone just gotta create and maintain it!

When politicians - and parents - make noise about how the "kids today" doesn't read very well, and then go home to shuttle them from sport to sport and admonish that they "must get out into the fresh air!" ..... Reading, like any skill, require work. How do you get good at reading and understanding what the text say? By reading. If you *entire* childhood is spent thrown out, shuttled to sports (and these days forbidden to use e-readers) you *don't train your skills* at reading.

@JosteinSN@oslo.town Jeg hadde litt travelt der ... Altså: de fleste større banker, forsikringsselskaper og tilogmed eldre, større industrifirmaer, kjører fremdeles "mainframe"-systemer, ofte med applikasjoner skrevet i Cobol. Dette regnes som ett meget kjedelig programmeringsspråk, så få velger å spesialisere seg der .... Vi mistet 5x til pensjon i 2025. Så er det fremdeles best å lære seg generell programmering og DERETTER ev. spesialisere seg i ett bestemt språk, men Cobol er ett tips.

Altså, hør ... jeg liker ikke skrotet Apple lager, men det heter da vitterlig ikke "Iphone", men "iPhone" Vi staver da ikke HELT i nøtta i Norge? Ikke skriver vi Coca-cola, og ikke Mcdonalds. Grr.

@JosteinSN@oslo.town Men ... legg vekt på å forstå teorien bak, samt programmering (generell, ikke språk; språk kan man lære seg senere), ærendehåndtering, dokumentation, ITIL, versjonshåndtering (ikke bare git!) ....
