Should be doing #Sheffield deliveries by #cargobike today.
Problem is, I hurt my back digging a pond - video attached (of pond digging not, back). The pond is made of clay from the ground, IE no plastic liner, it's holding water but need more rain to fill up (better than using tap water which will need treatment).
Back got a little worse yesterday doing #Nottingham deliveries (in car). In short, going to have to post them today so if you're waiting for coffee from us, expect it to arrive by Royal Mail tomorrow.
If you want to follow more nature stuff then the other half of Roasting House is @Kimberley@ecoevo.social which will have more pond digging and nature stuff.

Lots of new followers this week. Thank you and welcome.
This is our only social media, we took the moral decisions to remove ourselves from US big tech over the last few years which is detriment to how a business should be run really.
We've been de-googled for many years, no trackers on our website - we don't care where you come from or where you go, you won't find us on Amazon, no AI etc.
Basically I want to say that if you see businesses on #Mastodon, support them. They are usually here because morals got in the way of profits.
Spending £12 to treat yourself to a bag of #coffee (for example) makes a huge difference to small businesses like us.

@zipkid@gts.solfood.be We did used to send to EU up until last year but we had too many go missing.Plus our "brexit benefits" put the price up and added more paper work every few months we was eventually defeated and stopped.
Honestly maddening.
Love Belgium though, haven't been since going to Pukkelpop about 15 years ago.
The drum to rejoin EU is getting louder. I was would happily vote for it even if we had to take the Euro - so maybe one day again.

#Sheffield #coffee deliveries on the #ebike done.
Definitely becoming more of a fair-weather-cyclist as I get older. But with the weather nicer it beats the car.
Our #cargobike is a car-replacement, 32km in an hour and a half converts to averaging 13mph. With stops, that's not much slower than a car but always much more fun.
As always, a few chumps hating on people making better transport choices but haters gonna hate so best ignored.
Hope for more spring days like today so can do more in-house #cycle deliveries.

#AI rant.
Have a broken washer-dryer with Ikea. Bought end of 2023, has 5 years guarantee. Did all the troubleshooting etc Worked out it was a Whirlpool and followed instructions to call them. IKEA website says it's opened until 6pm.
I called at about 4:45pm and was in the queue until about 5:10pm where it suddenly said something like "Due to Coronavirus outbreak this line now closes at 5pm"
I thought I would go to IKEA contact us to tell them the issue (ie their website is incorrect), they don't have an email, only call them or chatbot. I figured I could navigate to a human on chatbot and after a couple of tries of it not understanding me it just kept saying "my pleasure" as if it was done. Tried a few other times but still said "my pleasure".
Then it asked me to rate the chatbot.
1 star.
Generally, I like IKEA. Paid extra vs. other washer-dryers because I wanted as long guarantee. But because chatbots are everywhere now, even things bought 2.5 years ago have become shitter.

@ahnlak@kavlak.uk Yes some of them are terrible. We tested a lot of different 'compostable' bags before we settled on the Natureflex ones that we use. Most just didn't break down at all. So far of the people who are composting them at home the feedback has been that they are breaking down in other people's compost too thankfully. I can see why people just blanket don't trust them though when there's no consistency across packaging that is allowed to be labelled compostable

Safe to say these are what some people would call more "woke" places but from a business point of makes perfect sense. But as you say, coffee black is the best way to go (confirms you're drinking good coffee).

The best #milk you can put in #coffee is #oatmilk. It's creamy, froths well, and if bought gluten-free, pretty much avoids all allergies.
Despite UK supreme court saying the slogan "Post Milk Generation" by #Oatly* can't be used because dairy farmers whined that not everyone likes cow lactose, they have literally got #OatMilk trending and everyone is reminded that there are alternatives for #milk.
Go out and try an oat milk, in our opinion it's better than bovine milk. There are lots of different diary-free milks available too. Oat is most popular but with different brands and formulas you might just find you never need to buy milks that cause animal suffering again.

I was just making lunch and thought of the analogy of tomatoes, like the ones we get from Riverford will always be better than the ones from Asda. All can be used in a sandwich or sauce or however you like them but every time no matter how it is used, the ingredient from Riverford will be better than the other.

A cafetiere brew gives room for error, the grind is coarse and you're not forcing water through it enough to capture everything while at the same time the immersion period allow it to capture "most" of the bean.
An espresso shot captures everything from the coffee, including the bad, which is why bad coffee is usually awful via espresso but "drinkable" via cafetiere when adding milk & sugar.
Now, we only have good (aka specialised) coffee roasted in small batches leaving little room to get anything wrong making everything good for espresso. But you could also leave a cafetiere for 20 minutes before plunge without bitterness making everything good for cafetiere.
The rest is personal preference.

We received a marketing email pitching a service to help manage the 'problem' of sharing coffee recipes with customers.
We don't do recipes for our coffees because taste is personal and there are so many variables. Is this something you expect when buying coffee? Do you look for recipes for specific coffees or just taste it and tweak your approach accordingly? This is just out of curiosity, we're not planning on doing recipes so if you are building a similar product there's no need to send your pitch ty.
