A quine is a computer program that prints its own source code. Such a program exists in any sufficiently powerful programming language by Roger's fixed point theorem.
A quine cannot contain all of its source code as a string which it then prints. One needs a trick.
One trick is to decompose the program into 3 parts. P, a Preamble, S.quote, a tail-string S of the program quoted in the programming language, and then the literal tail string S.

Probably the least helpful or logical dialogue I've seen on #MacOS in a while. Can or cannot? Green gheckmark for an error? And this is an Apple Keyboard with TouchID, so very recent.

If you read the entire essay by Klowden/Tao you will find many applications of LLMs in research math where you simply cannot say they are not intelligent in some weird new way. They definitely do useful things that require this ominous intelligence that only humans had before gpt was invented.

The phrase "human-chauvinistic" somehow triggered me, because I also see a certain "math-chauvinism" where mathematicians somehow believe that they are these unique unicorns in the way they think and teach and all their sacred traditions elevate them above the rest of humanity. Ansonsten gibts halt noch einige Ecken an denen die App nur halb aufpoppende Dialoge und andere kleine Interface-Bugs hat, aber man findet sich schon zurecht.
Es bleibt also, dass der Prozess jetzt wirklich papierlos ist. Die App kann man noch verbessern aber ansonsten ist das schon im Rahmen des Umfelds (Papierrechnungen von Ärzten) gut gelöst.
Am besten wäre natürlich eine Chipkarte und wenn das nicht alles über mein Konto laufen würde, aber das geht nur mit GKV (=todo).

Die meisten meiner Belege sind für die Kinder und bei "Patient" kann man in der App nur sich selbst auswählen. Irgendwo in den Menüs kann man Kinder anlegen, aber da steht, dass das keinen Effekt hat. Das habe ich jetzt mal unter "Beihilfestelle prüft eh alles" verbucht und einfach wild durcheinander alle Belege eingereicht. Auf dem Papierantrag stand immer: Bitte Belege nach Berechtigtem sortieren. Das ist in der App nicht möglich. 4/n

Der Freischaltbrief kam (war normalgroß und grau übrigens) und ich konnte jetzt den ersten Antrag stellen.
Das Prinzip ist sehr "kundenfreundlich": Man sammelt Fotos von seinen Rechnungen in der App und irgendwann klickt man Antrag einreichen und fertig.
Zu den Fotos kann man noch Metadaten speichern wie "für welches Familienmitglied", "Typ der Rechnung", "Betrag", aber das ist alles optional.

Auf der anderen Seite sehe ich natürlich, dass es sowas wie Framing gibt und das Sprache unser Denken beeinflusst.
Außerdem gibt es wohl mehr Menschen (auch Politiker) die einfach routinemäßig lügen und wissenschaftlich fundiert zu argumentieren steht auch nicht mehr so hoch im Kurs (siehe Umgang mit Habeck).
Und schließlich haben wir den Kulturkampf. Alle hier auf Mastodon wollen dass die Tagesschau bitte auf "unserer Seite" ist. Das finde ich nicht gut.

Ich bin mir da nicht so sicher. Es gibt doch eine Journalismustheorie dahinter. Was ist eine Meldung, eine Kolumne, ein Kommentar, etc. Das habe ich mal in der Schule gelernt, ist lange her :) Vielleicht kann @Marcel das erklären?

Say you have a machine that spits out hundreds of very long solution attempts to the Riemann hypothesis. Each is tedious and hard and then humans start reading it all until they refute most and finally find one that is correct. It’s a gigantic effort for the humans, but now they have a proof.

Der beste Kommentar zu #Artemis2 den ich irgendwo gelesen habe: Man ist einfach gar nicht mehr gewohnt, im Fernsehen oder Nachrichten so eine stundenlange, ausführliche Darstellung geballter Kompetenz zu sehen.
Leute die gut nachgedacht haben und im Team einen perfekten Plan perfekt ausführen. OK, minus das mit den zwei Outlooks ;)
Klar, das hat auch Energie verbraucht und CO2 wurde ausgestoßen, aber ich denke das Thema Weltraum kann uns als Menschheit zusammen und weiter bringen.

Was denkst du, ist die Wahrscheinlichkeit, dass die nächste Aktualisierung dieser Broschüre KI-frei erstellt wird?
Mal abgesehen, dass unsere aktuelle Regierung ja eher an der Broschüre "Glorreiche Zukunft der fossilen Energieträger" arbeiten wird.

Digitale Souveränität ist in aller Munde.
Ich bin alt genug um zu wissen, dass Unabhängigkeit und Verlässlichkeit auch mal als Argument FÜR Microsoft Produkte eingesetzt wurde (vs. open source), aber wer heutzutage auf US- oder Unbekannter Ursprung Infrastruktur neu setzt, handelt ja schon recht fahrlässig.
Ansonsten: Selber machen. Wie bei der friedlichen Revolution. Am Anfang kommen nur weniger, aber es werden immer mehr...

Ah, and I also ask the machine to follow the actual proofs in the paper, so it is not coming up with new proofs. What I'm doing is auto-formalization of human created proofs.
But I have not checked in detail if it has actually followed these instructions. That is certainly true.

But of course I'm working under the assumption that one cannot prove "False" in lean in the same way I work under the assumption that ZFC is consistent.
At some point you have to rely on an external system, but it's good to keep this in mind.

I think if humans would ever want to read these formalizations, then one would need to go through the proofs one by one and make the kind of manual optimization and streamlining that you also show in the middle of the video.
At the moment the "interface to human math" in my project are only the statements. I cannot assess how unnecessarily complicated the proofs are. I only ever look at the definitions and statements.

In total I am using a lot more tokens than you and I use a dedicated machine with no personal data. Then I can let claude modify files on that machine as it likes.
I think the formalization of the paper is half-way done now and I have spent less than 10 hours of my time with this.
I think the De Bruijn factor will very reasonably if and when this finishes.

I have limited knowledge of lean, so I let claude read the original .tex source and let it make its own long term and short term plan, write them in todo files and its own memory files and so on.
The only thing I have interfered with are some design choices in the beginning about how to set up the indeterminates in the polynomial ring and their ordering (which determines the term ordering).

Thanks for sharing this. I think the workflow with Claude Code can be very different and much less hands-on than you approach it in the video.
I have recently taken an old paper of mine and tried to let claude code formalize it with only very minimal intervention.
After two weeks one not entirely trivial Gröbner basis proof (Theorem 1.1) is done. Currently it is working on a primary decomposition statement:

Ansonsten bitte nicht falsch verstehen, ich will die Accounts nicht inhaltlich bewerten. Die Idee war erstmal öffentliche Einrichtungen aufzulisten. Da gibt's aber wenig von, also gestalten wir das noch ein wenig aus. Es ist schwierig genau zu definieren wo wir die Grenze ziehen. Kann das Theater gerne aufnehmen dann.

Der Staubsaugerroboter ist irgendwie von einer Teppichkante runtergerutscht ohne die Positionsveränderung zu merken. Dann ist er wieder 5cm hoch gefahren, was er sich gemerkt hat. Dann ist er wieder runtergerutscht, was er nicht gemerkt hat. Irgendwann war der Akku leer, aber jedenfalls wurde die Karte aktualisiert und jetzt ist unser Bad ca. 170m lang.
