Hello, friends - shaking the dust off after a looooong time away. Not sure if I'll be back for long but eager to see what I've been missing while away.
Wishing everyone a splendid day!

@vickimeagher@mstdn.social great to connect with you. Noticed in your bio you're a playwright. I'm searching for online communities/groups for folks wanting to learn more about playwriting. Any recommendations? Many thanks! 🙂

Just finished reading Ibsen's Hedda Gabler, for which I recently saw a film production of a dramatic performance by ntathome.com.
Amazing how much I missed upon first view that I caught reading it again afterwards. Such a quirky, compelling work!

All in the same post if the spirit moves you ... and you're sufficiently succinct. 😉

Finally got around to seeing a (film) production of The Playboy of the Western World by J. M. Synge.
Took me a while to get into this play and was puzzled at first as to how it caused such a fuss when it premiered (its theme of patricide sparked riots in its early days).
By the end, I realized it was basically slapstick comedy (at least in the production I watched).
Was laughing out loud by the end. That says something about the play ... and about me.

This. Is. Glorious.
Microsoft's ChatGPT bot is ... a real piece of work. Neurotic, temperamental and dead wrong.
At this rate, it'll be picking fights on Twitter in no time!
Worth clicking to the Twitter post which has a screenshot of the bot aggressively insisting the current year is 2022, and it doesn't care to hear any lip about this!

[A statement from the college] "goes on to say that scripture forbids 'sexual immorality including adultery, fornication, homosexuality, bestiality, incest, and use of pornography.'"
I'll concede that the Bible certainly seems to forbid those things ... and a GREAT MANY OTHER THINGS conspicuously absent from this list.
The narrow focus on sexual practices never ceases to amaze me.

Heartbreaking. So many recent examples of churches, religious organizations, and leaders I once admired falling short.
Hadn't realized how deeply MacArthur was in that camp. Feeling deflated, as I did when learning about sexual abuse allegations against Ravi Zacharias and, of course, the Southern Baptist debacle.

@w7voa@journa.host I'd also support mandatory competency tests for politicians young less than 75 years old.

Thank goodness for Republicans that between the Electoral College and how most states allocate its electors, winning the popular vote isn't necessary to becoming president. 🙄
