You don't have to go full tinfoil hat, build a bunker, delete everything and live off the grid to give a damn about it. It's a mindset. A slow change in behavior over time that fits YOUR life.

• You don't have to build a Faraday cage but you also don't have to share your location with every app that asks.
• Don't post your real name, birthday and location everywhere.
• You don't have to swear off every digital payment forever but you also don't have to hand your card details to every random site you visit just because the checkout flow made it easy.

What works for me might not work for you. And vice versa.

It's not binary and you're not failing just because you're not doing everything. Every piece of information you DON'T give away is a win

I left mainstream platforms completely burned out and found the fediverse, and god it felt like I could finally breathe again without someone tracking every single thing I did. But even here I kept wondering who actually protects my data when someone comes asking for it, and I realized I didn't want to trust anyone else with that answer. @GrapheneOS@grapheneos.social is being threatened by French authorities for refusing to add backdoors and they're dealing with coordinated attacks in French media right now. They're pulling out of France entirely, moving all their servers, and fighting off a wave of bullshit one-sided reporting that makes them look like they're helping criminals.

They need us to fight back. Support them however you can, whether that's a dollar, sharing their story, pushing back on the garbage news coverage when you see it, or just telling someone you know about what's happening. All of it matters because they're drowning in attacks from governments and media and bad actors who want them gone.

This is the only Android OS that actually makes me feel like privacy isn't just marketing. They fight for us now they need us to fight for them.

The EU is pushing Chat Control and creating an environment where governments feel empowered to threaten developers into compliance, and if we stay quiet we're letting it happen. Show up for them in whatever way you're able to.
