Last year, I added some woodland sedge (Carex blanda) to help the Golden Alexander (Zizia aurea) stay more upright. It's working better so far but there's still a lot of growth to come. #gardening #NativePlants

RE: https://cultofshiv.wtf/@EmandEmz/116476690843284292 Me and Emily have put in a massive amount of time on the garden today, seeding, potting and repotting. We have done as much sieving through the mound of soil dug up and mixed in the last of our compost and used up the last of our heavy duty bags so we are at a standstill until we get more of these. Two women (half the time one as Emily has college and exam revision) working with almost no equipment and resources trying to prove that we can achieve when we put our minds and strength into it. If you can help with any resources please do 🙏🏼 #lgbtq #affirmtranskids #womenempowerment #gardening #nature #outdoors

Spent as much time as my body will allow me sorting out the ground in my garden for planting vegetable plants, sore hips, knees and elbows have restricted me a little. It all started with my best friend buying me a tin of seeds to help me have something to help with my mental health, as she lives the other end of the country she can’t be there for me as much as she would like, learning something new, sticking with it through the challenges that arise and learning to deal with the failures and learn from them so that I can continue to get stronger and heal. Little did I know that the ground in my garden was so bad, huge rocks, bricks, glass and tiles are just some of the things I’m sieving through. I’ve had to did down daily deep, one bed at a time, sieve out the debris and mix what soil remains with some compost (which I buy a bag of once a week with my shopping as that is as much as my budget will allow) then start filling up the hole and hope I will end up with good enough soil for my plants to survive. This is my only option to continue with this project, I have very limited money, I don’t drive so the few free items I’ve been able to get I’ve had to ask my very busy son to pick up but I can only rely on him to an extent. Despite all this I’m sticking with it, getting there very slowly and achieving. #gardening #challenge #vegetablegarden #mentalhealthawareness If anyone would care to help with this project, especially soil, please do here https://www.amazon.co.uk/hz/wishlist/ls/1BEULWC9BF2ZJ?ref_=wl_share

RE: https://cultofshiv.wtf/@EmandEmz/116487614951625575 So far so good for my pigeon deterrent 🤞 I’m going to have to make some shelving for the back of it as I’m running out of room. I have some old pallets given to me from the builders at the nursery at the end of my road, a hammer, a 3m tape measure and a saw. No experience of ever building anything and barely any tools, what could go wrong? 🤦🏽‍♀️. But I have to show my daughter that I am a strong and capable woman and that together we can achieve anything we set our minds to. Fortunately she is in college this morning so I can try and probably fail a fair few times and cry alone 🙏🏼. If you can help with supplies please do. #affirimtranskids #womenempoweringwomen #gardening #woodwork

If you are following #PaulsYard, here is the view of the front yard #NoMow #WildFlower meadow from today's work from the security camera. The front yard edging and mulch beds, that surround the meadow, is now 90% done. We call that the horseshoe. Tomorrow, The side yard raised bed garden work begins. The front yard when completed will have one patch of grass next to the driveway that is 6 ft wide and around 20 ft long just for any visiting dogs to have a grassy place to potty. #Gardening I'll have Penny take extra pictures tomorrow in the daylight

2/ #PaulsYard #noMow #Wildflower #Garden photo in daytime. Will be starting the side raised fruit and vegetable garden soon. #Gardening Legend: 1> needs spacing move. 2> Wheelchair deck and ramp is getting moved to this door. 3> only lawn, push mow battery mower for visiting doggies, clippings, etc. Will be seeded naturally. 4> Wildflower meadow 5> AC will be removed since we have low voltage HVAC now, recycled matching siding 6> Going to paint siding sandstone with hunter green for posts, doors, etc to match new room

3/ I don't know if you noticed, but at the end of the wildflower meadow we planted a row of Rose of Sharon that we will prune into hedges. We started them last year. The second image actually shows the flowers from the one we created this row from. #PaulsYard #Gardening #WildFlowers

4/FYI, if you are wondering what #PaulsYard started out as, here is the previous vs work-in-progress towards our #noMow #Wildflower and raised bed #garden yard. #Gardening . Will be glad when we tackle the roof and the front siding, tbh. That is this fall in earnest.

It's #InvasiveSpecies day at the #allotment. 1st and more easily dealt with is the Spanish Bluebell, which I figure I can just dig up, and replace with the native variety. 2nd is Marsh Horsetail, this is a nasty piece of work, it is everywhere I look. So, is there a way to eradicate it that is A) inexpensive, and B) doesn't involve fighting a battle that will last the rest of my life? #gardening

Lovely to have sun. It was so hot in the polytunnel I had to strip to do some work. Good job we live remotely. Any naked gardeners on Mastodon? 😁 #gardening #polytunnel #garden #vegetables #thenakedgardener

I’m planting out my #tomatoes earlier than usual, so giving them extra security until they can fend for themselves. 🍅 #allotment #gardening #growyourown

I decided I want to try microdosing caffeine* but coffee is stupid expensive and tea is kind of hard on my stomach and now I'm sad. I may splurge on some cans of iced coffee. I'm not thrilled about the sugar content, but 🤷🏻‍♀️ Also, I transplanted my seedlings into bigger pots and nobody's died yet. I'm running a small fan a few times a day to help them grow up with strong stalks (stems? I dunno). Anyway. #AuDHD #Gardening *One cup of coffee and I register on the Richter scale for hours.

Sharing a new Anjou pear tree this #ArborDay weekend. I'm trying for a backyard #orchard following Grow A Little #FruitTree by Ann Ralph. Unfortunately, the nursery already psyched me out of the brutal first cut. I regret not doing it just like the book said I would. It's already so much larger in just 10 days. Any hashtags specific to this part of #gardening?

@KathyLK@universeodon.com We lucked out. We have 12 2x6 cedar raised beds that a local kid makes really cheap. This entire side yard is going to be a raised bed garden, accessible to me in the power chair. He inherited is grandfathers little portable saw mill. The 8 foot boards are only $1.5 or so a piece that we used for edging and the beds are only $20 each delivered. #PaulsYard #Gardening . I think we got our first batch for like $15 a piece.
