Alexandra Petri's takedown of Melania (the movie) is brilliant. Lots of folks are roasting this weird doc, as they should, but Petri shows real human empathy for the incredibly damaged person who would spearhead this - and that empathy itself is the most brutal indictment possible of this fascist propaganda. "MELANIA IS A HORROR MOVIE The first lady is trapped, and she doesn’t seem to know it." Paywalled (the Atlantic) but this link is on Apple News, so anyone with an iPhone gets it free. Apparently, 4 people joined The Metro's reviewer on opening night, plus an additional 1 who was apparently another movie reviewer. So a third of the audience was people who were being paid to watch the movie.
