At this point it would be a news flash if Tesla European sales merely stabilized. Sales in January were down 49.5% from the same month in 2025. US sales in the same period declined 17%. Europeans want a Tesla in their garage about as much as they want a swastika. We in the states need to emulate Europe. I think the Supercharger network is dying. I’ve been driving EVs for over a decade. Getting a Tesla was revolutionary for my travel because of the extreme reliability of always being able to charge whenever and wherever I was traveling. I didn’t encounter a single dead charging stall for years. On this trip from San Diego to Missouri, there has been at least one dead stall at every single stop I’ve made. Like it or not, EVs as a mode of transportation will completely fail and disappear except for regions like the west coast if the Supercharger network falls into disrepair. It needs to be its own company. #Tesla #EVs

Another reason not to buy a #Tesla #Cybertruck: they are poorly made. As videos in this story show, the door strikers were not fastened properly to the car, causing one of this car’s rear doors to swing open on a highway on-ramp. The door happened to be the one next to their baby in a car seat. The bolts on the striker were very obviously not torqued correctly. How this level of obvious error escaped the manufacturing/quality control floor is unknown, but I suspect it’s because the Cybertruck was poorly designed to begin with, and also because Tesla cut corners everywhere during their manufacturing process to save money. Unless I’m missing something, Tesla is cooked. “Tesla’s most recent quarterly earnings report showed slumping vehicle sales and declining revenue as Musk pins the company’s futures on AI and robotics.

Today I upgraded my Tesla app. And it took away my ability to decide when to charge the battery and when to discharge it. On the plus side it now knows about all of Octopus Energy’s tariffs so it should charge when it is cheapest to do so. But only time will tell. On the minus side it also took away my ability to choose to discharge my home battery on demand, to profit when I don’t need the power. It will be interesting to see how this “develops” over time. Will we be better off, will we be worse off, to what degree will we have any freedom of choice? Tesla’s documentation is dire and even the installers can’t explain some of the things that happen. I’d already decided I wasn’t having another Tesla car. Fortunately I’d also already decided to switch to a different tariff - just not got around to it - that means that these decisions will be out of Tesla’s hands. Or should be. Watch this space. #Tesla

Looking into getting home #solar as there are about to be new grants in the #UK. A big part of the attraction was #islandmode, being able to run off our solar panels in case of power cuts - which may become a thing with #ClimateChange and even #putin... Who knows. Anyway, I'm did not realise that this could cost as much as £4000 extra, and involve buying #tesla #powerwall batteries which I'm not about to do for obvious reasons. Can anyone around here advise? Is there a cheaper and less Musky way of dealing with this?
