The Taliban have announced that their retaliation operations against recent Pakistani air attacks in Afghanistan have started. This is a terrible dynamic that must stop. Innocent Afghans and Pakistanis are getting injured or killed. A better option is a diplomatic agreement between the 2 countries that neither would allow its territory to be used by individuals and groups to threaten the security of the other. The implementation of the agreement should be monitored by a trusted 3rd party, for example #Turkiye. The situation in #Baluchistan is tragic and alarming, with terrible attacks by Baluch fighters and Pakistani security operations As for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa? It is also in a state of crisis. @ImranKhanPTI, Pakistan's most popular political leader remains in jail and in solitary confinement, on trumped-up charges. I know the Pakistani establishment is very rigid and stubborn. But viewed from outside, it seems to have maneuvered itself into a hole. As the saying goes, if you are in a hole, stop digging! At the Rand Corporation, where I worked for many years, the institutional motto was “objective analysis, effective solutions”. The Pakistani establishment might benefit if it allowed a group of smart multi-disciplinary Pakistani analysts to conduct an objective analysis of its internal crises and propose options, including political options, for effectively dealing with them. Might the establishment surprise us and take such a step?
