Being so used to car-centric places, too much caution, thinking and looking in my part caused problems for everyone else. Mark @BicycleDutch@mastodon.social has a new blog post up about rush hour in #Utrecht along with this delightful 5-minute video near the Centraal train station. Aamuruuhkaa Utrechtissa, Alankomaissa. Haluan kiinnittää huomion muutamaan asiaan. 1) Hiljaisuus. Tällainen määrä ihmisiä menossa töihin, eikä liikenteestä lähde juuri minkäänlaista ääntä. Kuvittele sitä melua ja ruuhkaa, jos jokainen näistä ihmisistä menisi töihin autolla. 2) Pyöräilevien naisten määrä. Autolähtöinen suunnittelu palvelee ensisijaisesti miehiä. Pyöräilevien naisten määrä on hyvä merkki siitä, että asioita on tehty oikein ja liikenteestä on rakennettu tasa-arvoisempaa. 3) Pyörien ajoasento. Iso osa pyöristä tarjoaa pystyn ajoasennon. Nämä ovat pyöriä, jotka on tarkoitettu arkeen. Monet kokevat pystyn ajoasennon miellyttävämmäksi ja lisäksi siitä asennosta on myös helpompi havaita ympäristöä. Pyörät ovat käytännöllisiä, eivät urheilullisia harrastevälineitä. 4) Liikenneohjauksen puute. Liikennevalot ovat autoiluinfrastruktuuria. Tällainen määrä pyöräileviä ihmisiä kykenee ongelmitta liikkumaan ja neuvottelemaan aikeensa ilman valo-ohjausta. 5) Ajoasusteet. Ihmiset eivät pukeudu matkaan, he pukeutuvat kohteeseen. I volunteer with a Utrecht non-profit De Fietsmeesters to help teach adults how to bike. Students are almost always women, and mostly new immigrants. There are 16 new riders in this class, and 4 of us volunteers. By the end of 10 weeks almost everyone is successfully biking on the road — it's so empowering! #utrecht #bikeTooter

A tale of two clubs. At the half, #Celtic up 3-1 vs #Utrecht and #Rangers down 3-1 vs #Porto. I hope #Porto figures they have this one and let #Estaquio on the field in the 2nd half. Stephen is a rock in the mid-field for #CanMNT, it is bizarre he he gets no minutes at the club level. #Fedifc #MastodonFC
