Spot the moment when I was overtaken on the sprint by a car, that then braked because UNLIKE ME it couldn't pass between the parked car and the Surprise Oncoming Car That Nobody Could Have Planned For 😤😆 First rear wheel lock-up on the new bike 😬 35 kph to 0, in 2 car lengths. Ah well I missed the strong easterlies this week, I hope they return soon. All the good times on this road are, of course, set with tailwind. Like 20% faster. I'll just have to do my all out effort earlier before the traffic wakes up. #cycling #BikeToot #velophant

Och, it's fiendish, the only significant way to cut down distance and climbing is to go Whitley Bay - Morpeth - Kielder and cut out the first drinks stop at Elsdon, saves 12km & 300m. Might be a good idea anyway because of all the excitement at the start and the "relay" riders who'll be going faster. Any locals please advise - any good reasons to go up to Elsdon if you were riding from Whitley Bay to Kielder? Later on it pays to stick to the route, it's slightly shorter via Sanquhar but off route for the last 80k sounds like a recipe for no support. #cycling #Newcastle #Morpeth #Northumberland

I have Shimano GRX groupset and the rear shifting has been pretty erratic lately. Got a new chain and cassette, replaced cables and housing, cleaned and lubricated everything, and it's still not working great. I wonder if something is broken/worn inside the shifting/brake lever (ST-RX600). Does that ever happen (after 10 000 km)? I am an experienced home-mechanic but never took a drop bar shifting lever apart, judging by the looks it's a bit scary. #GRX #gravel #cycling #HomeMechanic

I've been to look at the road works on the A57 Manchester Road just west of Sheffield. There is a trench in the road and lots of fencing, but the route is open for pedestrians and cyclists. #Sheffield #Cycling #BikeTooter

Today's weather was really nice and the #assenliggers went for a bike ride as we do on Sundays. @twilwel@mastodon.nl, @TheoZw@mastodon.nl and Gert provided the excellent company today. My personal target for today was to reach a total of 0.08 Gm on the bike computer in my Mango velomobile, which was reached a few km before I got home. 84 km in total. I have a proposal to prevent this.

  1. The most senior UK google exec takes the ponts and fines for any offence.
  2. The fines are proportional to income. 3.once banned from driving, the next most senior exec has to take the points.

I've just washed my e-bike and given it a good looking over for wear or damage. Everything seems fine but, as I've never had an e-bike before, I thought I should check the user handbook to see if they recommend any specific checks or maintenance. I now know that I have RIM WEAR INDICATORS! Woo! What wizardry is this?! I've just checked my cheapy Decathlon folder and that has them too. My Raleigh Amazon doesn't, so this technology must've come in some time in the last 40 years. You look away for 10 minutes and BAM! everything has changed. I'd actually thought that the Decathlon bike just had really soft rims. 😄 #Cycling #Bike

To 50% Ords on the way home from work, to collect some parts. Most of it "fitted" in the pannier bag but I was left with 2 boxed folding tyres, so after carrying them out of the shop so I didn't look too dodgy, I stuffed them down the front of my jersey for the ride home like two enormous oblong breasts. #cycling #BikeToot #velophant #innovation #CarryAVulgarTermForExcrementOlympics

The sun is shining, the children have gone back to school, the term time queue has formed, and there is a bus parked in the bike lane.
