🏰 An abandoned chateau, somewhere in France This old residence has a very striking, fairytale-like exterior. Ivy drapes over the main entrance. The chateau-style pointed roof gives an imposing and almost Gothic appearance. Opened in the 1950s, this sprawling facility was once the primary training hub for #BritishAirways, schooling tens of thousands of crew over six decades. In these decaying 1950s office blocks, theory classes and pre-flight lectures were once held. There is also the pilot training area, which still contains the hollowed-out shells of Boeing 737-400 full-motion flight simulators. #PilotTraining #Boeing #Photography #Abandoned #Photography

A beautiful abandoned ruin in the spa town of Tskaltubo, western Georgia. Built during the Soviet period, this sanatorium primarily served miners, particularly those working in manganese extraction in towns such as Chiatura. Edendork Dance Hall, Co Tyrone, Ireland. A popular social venue during the Irish showband era (1960s to mid-1980s.) A huge blue dome towers above the dancefloor; a chandelier hangs from it. Once a lively venue, it is now out of fashion and out of time. ✈️ 🚂 🚗 Planes, Trains and Automobiles (and a cable car!) 🚡 Old cars taken for one last drive and dumped in forests. Cable cars left in silent stations. Soviet-era planes, once gate guardians to old air bases, now just an out-of-place curiosity. Industrial #ArtDeco, at its finest! This abandoned powerplant plant control room in Hungary was powered down decades ago. The oval room is lit by an immense skylight, which casts dramatic light across the original green metal control panels. These walls remain lined with levers, valves, and dials. Spaceship Ropeway is an abandoned aerial tramway station, perched high on a valley wall above a river. Somewhere in Japan. Built in the 1960s, it once carried visitors 730 metres across the gorge to a nearby theme park. The park closed around 2000, and the ropeway shut with it. Deep in the woods lies an abandoned VW Beetle Car Graveyard. Hundreds of Volkswagen Beetles and Bus Campervans are organised into rows and clusters, seemingly based on age and model. This fleet of rusting rainbow-coloured vehicles appears to represent every colour. Kraftwerk P, a disused coal-fired power station in Germany. Built during the 1920s, it was intended to provide additional power during peak hours of electricity demand. 🚂 Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad No. 643, the sole surviving H-1 class 2-10-4 "Texas" type steam locomotive engine built in 1944 by Lima Locomotive Works. Weighing around 520,000 lb, it is one of the heaviest steam locomotives ever built. Photos from 2018, when it sat #abandoned in an impound.
