🌿Nature finds a way inside this abandoned 1950s glass factory. Once a prestigious multinational HQ, the site now sits derelict and left to the elements. Inside the Modernist concrete shell are several massive internal atriums. Now, miniature worlds of greenery. A happy byproduct of decades of unchecked growth that is slowly engulfing this lost place.

The rusting enigma, Esztergom coal loader (Esztergomi szénrakodó) in Hungary
This 100-year-old industrial skeleton stands in the waters of the Danube. Built in 1927, this imposing structure served as the final terminal for coal travelling from the Dorog mines.
Now it is a disintegrating ruin of concrete and steel foundations, slowly yielding to the river’s current since the site was decommissioned in 1963.

A collapsing, long-abandoned theatre. Somewhere in Portugal
Built in the 1920s, abandoned since the 1980s. The roof collapsed a decade ago, allowing nature to reclaim the stage.
Today, it stands as a skeletal ruin, slowly dissolving into the landscape.

The Crown Theatre, Eccles : 1899 – 2019
Once, The Crown was called one of the "prettiest in the north."
In the early years the stage hosted Shakespearean dramas and revues. In the 1930s, it was converted into a cinema. By the 1960s it found a new life as a bingo hall.
Closing in the 1980s, it fell into ruins.
Eventually, in 2019, a large fire destroyed it leaving only the facade standing.

🏰 🇬🇧 A gothic Victorian hotel sits as a scorched ruin atop a hill in North Wales. Once a prestigious getaway that hosted celebrities and famous politicians, the building was largely destroyed by a large fire approximately 15 years ago.
Though half of the interior has now collapsed, some parts that escaped the blaze remain largely intact.

A three-level oval mausoleum and a large central skylight that filters natural light through glass floor panels to the subterranean level.
Its walls are lined with repositories, a grand ossuary for those unable to afford private plots.
The building is part of a maintained municipal cemetery.

Hotel Sakartvelo. One of many abandoned resort buildings scattered across the spa town of Tskaltubo in western Georgia. Once part of a busy Soviet-era holiday industry, the hotel is now an empty shell of concrete and broken stairwells.

"Black Start" Power Plant, Belgium - Part 2: Control room
Though officially closed around 2010, the control room remained eerily pristine when I visited a few years ago. The computer terminals were still live, and the lights remained on.
Since its closure, the plant appears to be maintained in a state of readiness, likely serving as a permanent contingency plan for national grid emergencies. It has since been demolished.

These are plaster replicas of the famous sculptures depicting the armies of Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of China. This collection is one of several such replicas scattered around the world. In the mid-2000s, we toured these specific replicas around Germany before storing them in this now-abandoned German industrial site.
