"We show that #climate litigation can lead to the implementation of significant policy changes. The paper concludes by arguing that with each successful climate case taken against a state, the corpus of international jurisprudence grows and reverberates, creating a ‘domino effect’ in climate litigation. Each judgment adds to the resource base of case law that can be cited in the future, serving to intensify the pressure on policymakers." https://www.iiea.com/publications/taking-governments-to-court/ #publicLaw #Ireland #NL #Germany

🇮🇪🚍 The National Transport Authority has announced that Route 310 in #Limerick will be operated by Bus Éireann under a new contract from Monday, 20 April 2026. The route, previously run by Dublin Coach, will remain part of the #Transport for #Ireland network, with services continuing seven days a week and running every 30 minutes, including early morning and evening departures. Passengers can continue to use Leap Cards and free travel passes, while cash payments will also be accepted on board from the start date. Standard adult fares will be €1.90 in cash or €1.35 with a Leap Card. The route will be adjusted to serve the new Bloodmill Road extension, improving links to residential and employment areas. Services will also be operated by a fleet of fully electric buses, aimed at enhancing passenger comfort and reducing emissions. Officials said the changes will support growing demand and improve overall service quality. https://www.nationaltransport.ie/news/nta-announces-bus-eireann-as-new-operator-for-route-310-in-limerick/

🇮🇪💳🚌 Passengers using TFI Local Link bus services in Kerry, #Ireland can now pay fares with contactless debit or credit cards, as well as mobile wallets such as Apple Pay and Google Pay. The National #Transport Authority said the move simplifies payments and offers greater convenience for rural and regional travellers. The rollout follows a successful pilot in Cavan and Monaghan and expansion to several other areas, reflecting strong passenger demand. Contactless is currently available for single journeys, while daily and weekly fares remain available via Leap cards and online services. Cash and Free Travel Cards are still accepted. The NTA said the upgrade is part of wider efforts to modernise public transport and improve accessibility, with local managers welcoming the added flexibility and improved passenger experience. https://www.transportforireland.ie/news/passengers-on-tfi-local-link-kerry-services-can-now-use-contactless-card-payments/

Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has launched a recruitment competition to appoint two Non-Executive Members to the Board of the Northern #Ireland #Transport Holding Company (NITHC). Established under the Transport Act (NI) 1967, NITHC oversees assets and its main subsidiaries—Ulsterbus, Metro and Northern Ireland Railways—operating as Translink. The organisation is expected to run commercially while aligning with ministerial policy. Kimmins described the roles as key to improving efficiency and promoting public transport, encouraging suitable candidates to apply. The posts require around two days per month, with attendance at board and ad hoc meetings. Annual remuneration is about £13,848, rising to £15,381 for subcommittee chairs, plus expenses. Appointments begin on 1 October 2026 for four years. Applications from under-represented groups are particularly encouraged. https://www.infrastructure-ni.gov.uk/news/launch-recruitment-competition-two-non-executive-members-board-northern-ireland-transport-holding-company-nithc

Lá Fhéile Pádraig sona duit! ☘️ The Yorkshire Dales and Ireland's Burren share 340-million-year-old Carboniferous limestone. But the Dales have 2,500+ caves and 400+ km of passage. The Burren, ~56 caves, but 25,000 hectares of exposed limestone pavement vs. our 1,052. Same rock. Very different worlds. #geologyrocks #stpatricksday #yorkshiredales #theburren #ireland #limestone #karst

🇮🇪 Ireland’s National #Transport Authority has launched an inclusivity campaign to promote #diversity across the Transport for #Ireland (TFI) public transport network. Building on previous anti-racism initiatives, the campaign presents public transport as a welcoming space for all passengers, regardless of background, identity or ability. Advertisements will appear on #buses, trams and #trains, as well as on social media, sharing the experiences of people who use public transport each day. Using the tagline “Transport for Ireland is Transport for you, transport for everyone”, the campaign highlights the role of public transport in connecting communities. NTA chief executive Anne Shaw said accessible and inclusive transport is a key priority, noting it provides essential access to education, employment and independence. She added that improving transport options can help remove barriers and support inclusion across society. The campaign will run for several weeks. https://www.transportforireland.ie/news/national-transport-authority-launches-inclusivity-campaign-to-promote-diversity-on-tfi-public-transport-network/

An Irish pub expert's top five in Dublin After years living abroad, Irishman Colm Dalton's search for home has led him to rate 155 Irish pubs in 51 countries. Now he rates the best of the best in the Irish capital. Colm Dalton is torn. "This is a nightmare decision," he says. "To choose five! It's like choosing your favourite child." But if anyone knows pubs, it's this displaced Irishman who's on a mission to visit every Irish pub on Earth.” #ireland #beer #Irishpub #Dublin #guinness #irish https://www.bbc.com/travel/article/20251125-a-pub-crawlers-guide-to-dublins-best-pubs
