🇮🇪 Ireland’s National #Transport Authority has launched an inclusivity campaign to promote #diversity across the Transport for #Ireland (TFI) public transport network. Building on previous anti-racism initiatives, the campaign presents public transport as a welcoming space for all passengers, regardless of background, identity or ability. Advertisements will appear on #buses, trams and #trains, as well as on social media, sharing the experiences of people who use public transport each day. Using the tagline “Transport for Ireland is Transport for you, transport for everyone”, the campaign highlights the role of public transport in connecting communities. NTA chief executive Anne Shaw said accessible and inclusive transport is a key priority, noting it provides essential access to education, employment and independence. She added that improving transport options can help remove barriers and support inclusion across society. The campaign will run for several weeks. https://www.transportforireland.ie/news/national-transport-authority-launches-inclusivity-campaign-to-promote-diversity-on-tfi-public-transport-network/

An Irish pub expert's top five in Dublin After years living abroad, Irishman Colm Dalton's search for home has led him to rate 155 Irish pubs in 51 countries. Now he rates the best of the best in the Irish capital. Colm Dalton is torn. "This is a nightmare decision," he says. "To choose five! It's like choosing your favourite child." But if anyone knows pubs, it's this displaced Irishman who's on a mission to visit every Irish pub on Earth.” #ireland #beer #Irishpub #Dublin #guinness #irish https://www.bbc.com/travel/article/20251125-a-pub-crawlers-guide-to-dublins-best-pubs

#Luas in #Dublin, #Ireland is marking International Women’s Day 2026 on Sunday 8 March, a global event first observed in 1911 that recognises the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, while calling for faster progress on gender equality. This year’s theme, #GiveToGain, highlights the role everyone can play in creating a fairer society. As a diverse organisation, Luas values inclusion to attract talent, encourage innovation and uphold equal opportunity. To mark the day, Luas is highlighting the contribution of women across the transport sector, increasing visibility and showing women and girls that careers in transport are open to all. The company is encouraging people to support women in their communities and workplaces, reinforcing that progress comes from shared action. https://www.luas.ie/latest-news/international-womens-day-march26/

The town of Athlone (Ireland) grew around Athlone Castle, which was strategically built in 1129 at the first location north of Clonmacnoise where River Shannon was passable. It is a nice town to visit. #Athlone #Ireland https://backpackandsnorkel.com/Ireland/Day9/#592

RE: https://ec.social-network.europa.eu/@EUCommission/116131989419314280 The #UK should be allowed to rejoin the EU's 'Roam Like at Home' scheme, since three of the four major UK mobile providers have brought back EU roaming fees (except for the Republic of #Ireland), which now also affect #EU visitors coming to the UK.

Edendork Dance Hall, Co Tyrone, Ireland. A popular social venue during the Irish showband era (1960s to mid-1980s.) A huge blue dome towers above the dancefloor; a chandelier hangs from it. Once a lively venue, it is now out of fashion and out of time. Sadly, it was demolished a few years ago. https://www.obsidianurbexphotography.com/leisure/edendork-dance-hall-ireland/ #Ireland #Photography #Abandoned #Irish #History #Music #Dance

Go-Ahead #Ireland recorded more than 26 million passenger journeys in 2025, its highest annual total, according to figures published by the National #Transport Authority. The total represents an 18.2% increase year on year across the 37 public service routes it operates in the Greater Dublin Area. Across the wider Transport for Ireland network, passenger numbers exceeded 363.5 million nationwide in 2025. Go-Ahead Ireland achieved the highest percentage growth in the capital and the second highest across the national network. Growth was supported by the rollout of the #BusConnects network redesign, including six new routes in south #Dublin and #Wicklow and the introduction of the 73 cross-city service. The company said demand has risen steadily since the pandemic, carrying 18.6 million passengers in 2023. https://www.goaheadireland.ie/go-ahead-ireland-records-landmark-growth-2025

In #Ireland, Darragh O’Brien has confirmed the 2026 Electric Small Public Service Vehicle (eSPSV) Grant Scheme will open on 25 February, backed by €7 million in funding to help taxi, hackney and limousine operators move to zero-emission vehicles. Grants of up to €7,500 are available towards a new battery electric vehicle, rising to €17,500 where an older high-polluting vehicle is scrapped, and up to €25,000 for a new electric wheelchair-accessible model. Since its launch in 2018, the scheme has allocated more than €65 million and supported over 3,600 operators to switch from fossil fuels to electric, reducing emissions and improving air quality in towns and cities. https://www.gov.ie/en/department-of-transport/press-releases/minister-obrien-announces-espsv-scheme-supporting-taxi-hackney-and-limousine-operators-to-switch-to-zero-emission-vehicles/

The National #Transport Authority (NTA) has launched a public consultation on a proposed policy for pets on Transport for #Ireland (TFI) services, open from 23 February to 20 March. The policy aims to standardise rules across bus, rail and Luas services. Small animals such as dogs and cats may travel in carriers on laps or floors without blocking aisles. Larger dogs must be leashed and muzzled, with access possibly refused on busy services. Guide and Assistance dogs will continue to have unrestricted access. The NTA invites public feedback to shape the final policy. https://www.nationaltransport.ie/news/nta-opens-public-consultation-on-policy-for-pets-on-public-transport/

The Department for Infrastructure has confirmed there is no delay to the #Belfast Rapid #Transport 2 (BRT2) project in Northern #Ireland. The Outline Business Case was approved in December 2025, and officials are appointing engineering consultants for the detailed design and delivery programme, completing the initial phase. Groundwork is expected later this year, with full construction planned for 2027, in line with the timeline set by the Minister in February 2025. The project is expected to take six years to become fully operational. Full delivery remains subject to additional funding, with a current £100 million shortfall under review. https://www.infrastructure-ni.gov.uk/news/update-department-infrastructure-about-belfast-rapid-transport-2-project

The Department for Infrastructure’s 2024/25 Public #Transport and Journey Planning report, based on the Continuous Household Survey, found 71% of Northern #Ireland respondents were satisfied with local public transport, down from 76% in 2023/24. Around 21% used it daily or weekly, while 64% travelled by public transport at least once a year. Most users (95%) felt safe when using services. The survey involved 4,584 individuals from 3,790 households and aims to guide policies promoting sustainable travel. Data collection returned to face-to-face interviews, with telephone as an option. https://www.infrastructure-ni.gov.uk/news/public-transport-and-journey-planning-northern-ireland-202425-report-published

The National #Transport Authority said passenger journeys across the Transport for #Ireland (TFI) network rose by 6% in 2025 to 363.5 million, up almost 20 million on 2024’s 343.6 million. #Dublin Bus carried 164 million passengers, while Bus Éireann served 53.6 million and Go-Ahead Ireland 26 million, an 18% rise. Iarnród Éireann recorded a record 55 million rail journeys, with Luas also exceeding 55 million. TFI Local Link saw trips increase 19% to 6.97 million.
