An Irish pub expert's top five in Dublin After years living abroad, Irishman Colm Dalton's search for home has led him to rate 155 Irish pubs in 51 countries. Now he rates the best of the best in the Irish capital. Colm Dalton is torn. "This is a nightmare decision," he says. "To choose five! It's like choosing your favourite child." But if anyone knows pubs, it's this displaced Irishman who's on a mission to visit every Irish pub on Earth.” #ireland #beer #Irishpub #Dublin #guinness #irish https://www.bbc.com/travel/article/20251125-a-pub-crawlers-guide-to-dublins-best-pubs

#Luas in #Dublin, #Ireland is marking International Women’s Day 2026 on Sunday 8 March, a global event first observed in 1911 that recognises the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, while calling for faster progress on gender equality. This year’s theme, #GiveToGain, highlights the role everyone can play in creating a fairer society. As a diverse organisation, Luas values inclusion to attract talent, encourage innovation and uphold equal opportunity. To mark the day, Luas is highlighting the contribution of women across the transport sector, increasing visibility and showing women and girls that careers in transport are open to all. The company is encouraging people to support women in their communities and workplaces, reinforcing that progress comes from shared action. https://www.luas.ie/latest-news/international-womens-day-march26/

Go-Ahead #Ireland recorded more than 26 million passenger journeys in 2025, its highest annual total, according to figures published by the National #Transport Authority. The total represents an 18.2% increase year on year across the 37 public service routes it operates in the Greater Dublin Area. Across the wider Transport for Ireland network, passenger numbers exceeded 363.5 million nationwide in 2025. Go-Ahead Ireland achieved the highest percentage growth in the capital and the second highest across the national network. Growth was supported by the rollout of the #BusConnects network redesign, including six new routes in south #Dublin and #Wicklow and the introduction of the 73 cross-city service. The company said demand has risen steadily since the pandemic, carrying 18.6 million passengers in 2023. https://www.goaheadireland.ie/go-ahead-ireland-records-landmark-growth-2025

🇮🇪 From 1 March 2026, passengers must hold a valid, in-date Free #Travel Public Services Card (PSC) to use Free Travel. The expiry date is printed on the front of the card. Paper Free Travel passes will no longer be accepted from that date. The PSC is valid on Bus Éireann, #Dublin Bus, Go-Ahead Ireland, Iarnród Éireann (Irish Rail), Luas, TFI Local Link, Kilkenny City Services (City Direct), and many commercial bus operators. A full list of participating operators and routes is available on gov.ie. The Free Travel PSC is issued under the Free Travel Scheme and managed by the Department of Social Protection. It enables eligible people to travel free of charge on most public #transport services across #Ireland. https://www.transportforireland.ie/news/free-travel-update/

The National #Transport Authority said passenger journeys across the Transport for #Ireland (TFI) network rose by 6% in 2025 to 363.5 million, up almost 20 million on 2024’s 343.6 million. #Dublin Bus carried 164 million passengers, while Bus Éireann served 53.6 million and Go-Ahead Ireland 26 million, an 18% rise. Iarnród Éireann recorded a record 55 million rail journeys, with Luas also exceeding 55 million. TFI Local Link saw trips increase 19% to 6.97 million. The growth follows service expansions under BusConnects Dublin and the Connecting Ireland Rural Mobility Plan, including new and demand-responsive routes, as public transport use continues to rise nationwide. https://www.nationaltransport.ie/news/passenger-journeys-up-6-across-the-tfi-network-in-2025/

#Transport Infrastructure #Ireland (TII) has launched procurement for MetroLink’s first major civil works, issuing contract notices on 3 February for the M401 and M402 design and build packages. The contracts cover the core infrastructure for Ireland’s first #metro system in #Dublin, including tunnelling, stations, track preparation and major structures. The procurement process begins with pre-qualification, followed by a competitive tender stage. The maximum combined contract value is €7.9 billion excluding VAT, with final tender prices expected to be lower. M401 covers the southern section from Charlemont to Northwood, while M402 covers the northern section from Northwood to the Estuary, including surface works, viaducts, stations and depot preparation. Sustainability and carbon performance will form part of the assessment, in line with national climate objectives. https://www.metrolink.ie/en/news/latest-news/first-major-design-and-build-civils-contracts-announced-for-metrolink/

We are hiring for a senior developer role in Ireland. Systems programming in Golang and Python, Linux only, mostly open-source. The team is located in Europe and the East Coast. We are looking for a smart person who's able to work in a team, challenge technical decisions, but also own their mistakes (and learn from them). On Fedi I am not public about who I am or who I work for, which makes this a bit complicated. Hit me up if the pitch sounds interesting. Disclaimer: At the job, using AI is encouraged when it makes sense, it wouldn't work if you are angry with all LLMs. #GetFediHired #ireland #dublin #go #golang #python
