The plasterers are here today repairing the lounge ceiling.
My "I'll let you get on with it" really means that, every time they go out to their van, I dash into the lounge and take photos of what they've done. 😆
I'm now matching the photos with online guides on how to repair a ceiling. I'm a bit annoyed that B&Q's website interchangeably uses Noggings and Noggins. 🤔
I must remember not to use any of my newly acquired vocabulary when talking to the plasterers!

It's many years since I've been to Molineux.
In those days, they had almost a square of grass between the stands, so the pitch was marked more towards one side than the other. Well, that's how I remember it. Can any Wolves fan confirm?
Also, they ran out to the Liquidator which was a great song to get the crowd warmed up. The funny thing was that the only lyrics were rather rude about West Bromwich Albion ..... who also ran out to the Liquidator and sang the same rude words about Wolves. 😄
Players don't even run out anymore. 🙄
Football was better back then.

The more I wrestle with Nana's sewing machine, the more I marvel at the skill of that generation of women. The machine appears to possess a demonic spirit of its own. My Nana's generation knew how to tame and control that spirit.
I have read the manual and I've tested all of the settings on scraps of material yet, when I come to sew something for real, the machine scorns my efforts. It bunches up the material; it creates a huge knot of thread; it teases me with very slow stitching ...... then rushes forward at potentially finger-jabbing pace.
I will persevere!

I've just repaired my garden fence. 🔨 💪
Six months after buying the capping rails, I impetuously decided they needed to be fitted NOW!
I wonder if the parts of me which hurt now will be the same bits which ache tomorrow? I will never learn to take things easy. 🙄

There will be some hand-sewing as I need to tack everything together to begin with.
I'm a little nervous but I'll take it slowly and I'm starting with the small cushion so I can make mistakes on the one which is less important.

I'm beginning to have some concerns about #MerseyRail's secure #bike storage. My local station's storage hasn't worked (electric fault, apparently) for as long as I've had my fob. I've just cycled to the next station along and got locked inside the shed! 😬 Luckily there's an emergency exit.
The next station in the other direction doesn't have the little lockable baskets to leave your helmet etc safely.
Such a good idea in theory but with a few snags in practice.

Yes, The Royal Iris has been a much loved #Mersey #Ferry but this ferry boat has not been afloat for 67 years. The Royal Iris and the Royal Iris of the Mersey are different boats.
Our family photo album has a picture of me with a face like a slapped arse onboard the Royal Iris when I was about 6 or 7. I was in a strop, apparently, and my parents thought they'd capture the moment. 😄
I always felt fond of the Mountwood as that was the name of my house at junior school.
And when they say they're going to welcome the Royal Daffodil into the fleet later this year, there have been previous Royal Daffodils. Daffodil, like Iris, being a previous Wallasey boat made Royal following their participation in the raid on Zeebrugge in 1918 and still marked with a service of remembrance every year in April.

I spent almost 10 hours in the Emergency Department last night. What fun that was. 🙄
Two waiting rooms, both overheated and with loud televisions. Home renovation on one screen; 70s and 80s hits on the other. If I hear Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here again I shall scream.
Just after 10pm the Police turned up with a succession of troubled and sometimes handcuffed individuals. At 2am an ex-colleague of mine, who is now a Police Officer, arrived to take over a "baby sitting" shift. It was nice to see him.
All of the NHS staff were kind and as helpful as they could be. The patients were mainly pragmatic and patient. Maybe that's why they're called Patients? I saw phone chargers being shared.
I was given cups of tea and, at about 2am, a sandwich. Not the tastiest but very welcome.
When I left the hospital at 4:30, the dawn chorus was in full throat. It was lovely. 🐦
I'm fine, by the way. 🙂 A precautionary visit.

@CloudsGoBy@mindly.social There is DPD and DPD Local. Recently I've had a DPD parcel come a day early, but luckily I was in.
Then I had DPD Local try to bring a parcel TWO days early, when I was out. That's the one they then said they'd taken back to the depot when they'd delivered it. 🤦
My experience is that they're better than many other delivery companies. I'd hate to be a delivery driver. They have so many so deliver in a day. It must be quite a stressful job.

My frustration with DPD has now turned to bewilderment.
I had left the tracking page open on my laptop and have just noticed that it says that they have taken my parcel back to their depot. This statement is alongside a photograph of the parcel in my doorway next to my trouser-clad legs. I clearly remember bringing the parcel inside and closing the door.
In fact, I then opened the parcel and phoned the supplier to say they'd sent the wrong thing, but that's a whole different story. 🙄
So, DPD, I think your tracking system may be wrong. It's not AI, is it?

A few weeks ago I bought a pot of Tête-à-Tête bulbs for £2.99 and split it into 3. This bunch seems quite happy at a wonky angle hung on a chopped down Yucca. I smile whenever I see them. 😊

@BecLFC@mastodon.social This is the second time this machine has got in a tizzy. Last time, I think it was due to an unbalanced load. I have no idea what it didn't like this time. The manual doesn't give any useful information about troubleshooting and most of what is on the internet is out-of-date.
The sun is still shining, though, and my washing has finally spun so I'm making good use of outside drying. 🙂

@Walkaholic@mastodon.scot I presume different libraries offer different newspapers and magazines. I subscribe to the Guardian and the Liverpool Echo. The Echo's website is a clickbait and pop-up nightmare so it's nice to have a quick flick through the paper on my phone without all the distractions.

Which part of "We will deliver your parcel on Monday" does DPD find so difficult to understand? I'll be in on Monday. I asked for the parcel to be delivered on Monday. They said, up until 10 minutes ago, that they would deliver it on Monday. So getting a text message to say "We will deliver your parcel between 1616 and 1716 TODAY" is not helpful. Muppets.
