I suppose, if one were optimistic, there is a “glass half full” view of this current oil shock. It might remind people that oil is a problematic resource, for structural reasons (as well as the ecological ones they might not care about). Orthogonally, more people might be inclined to support electrification of more systems, if only for short-term or myopic financial reasons. The earlier they do, the less harmful future shocks will be.
